I think Harbaugh is trying to shore up some issues in the passing game. It's not working as quickly as we all would like.
Plus Gore is not 100%.

With the NFC West won JH is using this time to work on some new things. It will pay off in the playoffs.

lot easier to get beat by a zone blitz when you are throwing deep half the time, with plays taking 2-3 seconds to develop.
IMO they are still installing a lot of stuff. People forget that Smith's INT to Braylon vs Ravens was the first time they had ever run the play at all.

I think this is a good point. The Niners were 9 - 1 and we were all clamoring for more passing and whining about conservative play calling. Maybe they should try to hone what they do best. It's going to be tough to run the ball agains Pitt Monday night though.
