Lets talk game planning vs the Steelers.

The Niners OL has struggled with the blitzing of the Ravens and the Cardinals. The Steelers defense is formidable (as is the niners) and ranks high against the run and the pass. Therefore you need to pick your poison. I say they need to start the game with a lot of runs, and maybe some screens. Anything to protect the QB from sacks and negative plays. The Niners have Gore, Hunter and Dixon, there own version of thunder and lightning or whatever you want to call it. A heavey dose of running can only help the OL build some confidence and keep the defenders from pinning their ears back and having a pow wow meeting at the qb every play. build upon the runs and screens and get some high percentage short yard passes to build rhythom. Hope for YAC and gear towards 5 yard passes. If the D stacks eight or 9 in the box they need to have some quick reads where Alex throws in less than 1.5 seconds to avoid sacks. Go Niners.

We definitely need to run more. Gore only had TEN carries against Arizona. Did someone tell Harbaugh that this was a passing league and he's all for throwing the ball almost 40 times a game now or what? We're not a passing team. We were winning games with Gore running the ball first and teams stacking the line, THEN we throw the passes. Smith should only be throwing the ball 20-25 times a game, maybe 30. I just don't know what happened and why Smith had to throw the ball 36 times in a game that we were winning by 19-7 at one point. WTF.

We have gotten away from what we do best which is run the ball. I don't know why we started throwing the ball around like crazy.

Exactly. And then we start throwing the ball around when opposing defenses don't expect it. But now all of a sudden we're a pass first team? Sorry Harbaugh, Rodgers isn't your QB and we don't have an Oline like the New England Pariots'.
