And I love how the last 2 pages include a bunch of posts from people who have shut the hell up during the majority of the season, then come out after one bad game and start acting like this is how it's been all season and they've been here all season. Don't even like the 9ers, they are just a bunch of trolls who hate on the team and come out when the team loses or our QB plays badly.

Just look at his helter skelter stint at QB for the Eagles. He has more talent at his disposal.

Exactly. Jackson, Maclin, McCoy, Celek, Steve Smith, Riley Cooper, is a really talented group of skill players.

What do you want, a cookie? Oh I almost forgot, you want Vince Young.

Nevermind, no cookie for you.

We would have beat the Cards today with VY. Lets remember VY never had the talent the Alex Smith has with the 49ers. I guess people love the errant passes by him. I'm waiting for the excuses for him....please start.

its our WR's fault, they can't catch.....

haha Yah tel Eli Manning that. His WR dropped a game winning TD in the endzone. Came back and threw two more strikes for a TD.

This, and he threw accurate, threw his WR's open, looked off the safeties, avoided the blitz, had touch, etc.

Alex......

lol all you guys sound so stoked.......good for you.

I bet more then half would smile if Alex got hurt

I bet 50 percent of the time your statistics are wildly exaggerated.
Tj yates is everything Alex smith isn't. Houstons qb looks better than Alex smith and he's played in only a few games. In fact Dalton looks as good as smith ever has. huff said. Watch the highlights.we can only hope our qb savior arrives at the launch of our new stadium.

On this topic I bet I'm pretty accurate. For the posters who really dislike him I bet half would grin if he was unable to play and we got to see somebody else. It's been stated by quite a few that Kap can run this O just has effectively as Alex.

I think that's how the transfer of power will happen but I'm not wanting the kid to get hurt.
This thread will only end when we put a kap on it.

And, what, risk his development? I'd wait until next season for Kaepernick to make a more dignified appearance in games.

I have a sinking feeling The Alex Smith Ocean Liner Express is due to Kapsize.

Next year of course.

Alex Smith is a solid, above average quarterback. His style is to take what the defense gives him, minimize mistakes, and keep the chains moving. That is his STYLE of play. Nothing at all wrong with it. Some people think this is the best type of quarterback to win with.
IMO, I prefer a quarterback that makes more plays, yet throws more interceptions and makes more mistakes. I think the mistake free quarterback will win you a lot of regular season games, but when you play very good playoff types of teams, the play maker will always give you a chance.

The "elite" quarterback both minimizes mistakes AND makes a ton of plays. That is ideal, of course. Rogers, Brady, P Manning, Brees.

We have no idea how good Kaepernick will be at minimizing mistakes, but one thing is for sure, he WILL make plays. I think with a top defense like we have, I'd rather see, 4TD's 2Ints 300yrds, rather than 1TD 0Ints 200yrds. Interceptions change games, but so do passing TD's. Just my opinion. Some people prefer the mistake free player.

Yes, it has been. Based on a handful of plays in the regular season and some preseason time. It has also been said by others that he clearly isnt ready yet and needs plenty more development time.

Watching all those sacks of late and seeing our O line at work, I have to seriously question anyone who suggests putting in a rookie right now.

You have to admit the people who booed the kid that day would be the people I'm talking about

I think there has to be dynamics at work which will allow a coach to change his tune. I think back to 97. Now, Young has proven himself a dynamic quarterback at that time, already. But, given the dynamics of the skill position players on that roster during that year, Mooch did play close to the vest, and Young's stats reflected that. Then, in 98, for some reason or another (maybe T.O. and stokes, and then Rice coming back) Mooch, and Morninwheg decided to air it out even more, and flirted with three wide receiver sets more than they did in seasons past. I think if Smith does get another season as 49ers QB (which is contingent on a few things), I think Kyle Williams should be featured more, and the formations should be more dynamic in showcasing two back sets, and three wideouts as the norm. At the least, give this kind of look via an added Tight end.

Yeah, that was pretty embarrassing. I don't agree with pulling Smith and installing Kaepernick, by the way. That kid is raw and nowhere near ready. I do think however that Smith is just as much at fault for this loss as Roman, the O-line, Ginn, etc. All it takes is a few hard hits and his pocket awareness goes to sh*t and he starts hopping around like he's the Easter Bunny which only makes things worse. Unfortunately there is nothing about him that suggests he's ever going to be above average. That door closed shut long before Harbaugh came aboard.
