We are a blue collar team, unspectacular.
Plus majority of these mags are based on preseason and the prior season.
Any current mags like Sporting News and Sports Illustrated, have lots of sports to write up on. They will write on whats bigger news. The niners winning the division is meaningless to them. As there are bigger weekly news-from Penn State to Tiger Woods to the end of the NBA lockout. Certain games like when we played the ravens, if they had won might have made headlines in SN or SI with niners return or little brother beats up big brother in the Harbowl or Niners the new bullies on the block or something, but they didn't. So the niners will have to win in the playoffs.

The 49ers have been irrelevant for nearly a decade now...Be patient, if the 49ers consistently demonstrate that they can win games & continue to clinch the NFC West...The accolades "will" return, its just a matter of time.

And we are on the west coast. Only reason the east coast gave us props in the '80s & '90s is because we had an undeniable dynasty. Even after we gave them one of the greatest games in NFL history, an explosive shootout with 4 TDs in the final 4 minutes, it was still way behind coverage of the Giants and Patriots. Only explanation is east coast bias.

Not true. I'm on the east coast (NJ), and my wife just picked up my 49ers SI mag for me, and she bought it in NY. Damn, I wish I could get some SF newspapers delivered.
