Dare I say PACKERS?

Name the ONLY team with the kind of defensive speed needed to contain Air Bear?

An NFC Championship Game for the ages. Mark my words. It will happen.

Football is fun again!

I can't take another loss to the packers. I hate to say it but they OWN the NINERS so bad! That team scares me every time we play them.

Here's a fun fact (and keep in mind I am by no means saying we will make it to the Super Bowl -- I don't expect to, although I always hope that), but.. the last rookie HC to win the Super Bowl was 49ers HC George Seifert.

Yes, in a system that Walsh built. But I think Martz did the same thing with the Rams? So I dunno if that was the last time?

I'm wrong..Martz only took them to the superbowl..didn't win.

The last rookie HC to make the Super Bowl was Caldwell from Indy - he lost too.

Who was the last rookie head coach from the college ranks to have such a successful start?
Yes, I agree with everything on the board.

Harbaugh, Better Oline Play, Jed giving up the reins to Baalke and Harbaugh........and the right moves to transform our defense. The offense is building and the line is getting better.

But I still like the Nickel for our team. We can get pressure with a four man rush and make teams one dimensional.

I like our chances vs. Rodgers........we need to keep winning to get homefield advantage. Good thing Detroit still has two games against the Packers.

AND YOU NEED TO RUN THE BALL IN THE PLAYOFFS.........Game on! Go 49ers.

Snyder for Rachal
Hunter for Dixon
Miller for Norris

And the biggies
Fangio for Manusky
Roman for Raye/Johnson

and of course

Harbaugh for Singletary

Not that much change in the offensive personnel, but look at how much our D changed. Above else, what a difference a real coaching staff makes.

Iz happy!!!!
I agree with the above points. Improvement on the defense especially Rogers and Culliver, and improved play from Brown, Whitner and Goldson. I think our big nickle team is stellar and maintains the rush and still gives us options to pass rush. Then on top of that improved play by Sop, McDonald and Aldon Smith is a perfect complement to J. Smith. Then the oline is starting to gel, Snyder for Rachal has helped immensely, and the coaching staff aggressively planning for the other team, and implementing the plan in such a way as our players can play it within our strenghts. Then add improved special teams play, which is worth 2-3 wins a year all by itself and we see improvement across the board. Then add J. York selecting Baalke, who selected Harbaugh, which selected his coaching staff and we are having a winning team.

It appears Jed York has finally grown up. Hats off to Jed York for making the right call at GM (Baalke) and Head Coach (Harbaugh). Things are finally coming together, it's nice to have a competent front office once more.

lol, it's the old saying "It all starts from the top." right?

Its funny that so many people were just disparaging Jed in the past off-season. Like I said, he is not his father so give him a chance, and people forget he grew up around the 49ers because of Uncle Eddie. Yet everyone was dogging him for his blood relations and youth. Dogging the 49ers be sold and not thinking that we could end up with a Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder, those that spend money but intefere thinking they know more about football. Jed only recently just took full control last season. He is still learning, but many did not want to cut him some slack, there are many other older presidents/owners, that have been in the league longer and took a long time to establish themselves a winner. People forget-investing in people is an inexact science. Try being a personell person in a business and you will see it is no easy task.

Interesting article by Eric Branch. Packers that scary? Their opponents are a combined 12-22. Ours, 19-15. Hmmm.....

X 100. Young Jedi is channeling some real Eddie D. type magic

I mean, if he's consulting with Eddie D. as they say he is...how could he go wrong? He now holds the keys to the franchise, guided by one of the greatest owners ever.

this is exactly why i was major hating on the pack this last super bowl on top of the fact that holmgren transported our philosophy over there and they have been running our stuff since the 90s while installing various members from our coaching tree to their staff i just knew that we would be facing this very confident very talented and very WCO californicated qb product aaron rodgers the next few years who is very capable of doing it to us what brett favre did while brett favre spouted off after the first time they whipped us at the stick in the 95 playoffs about the WCO "this is our offense now". i was pissed and wanted to murder someone almost. I hope we do see them and somehow do to them what they did to us and make them abandon the niner philosophy and return to vince lombardi football or some s*it

I think T.O was a rookie in '96 as opposed to '98...but point definitely well taken.
Absolutely! We have improved every week. Seely has mae ST a real difference maker. The whole team has gotten better. Can't wait for the Browns.
Real Reason?

This little fat guy behind Harbaugh.

Greg is like Mike Homgren take 2+!

His advice to his nephew, hire the right people get out of the way and reward them as best as you can, not only the players but the entire family (meaning their mama's and wives). If they start winning SB-first class chartered flights.

Skinny coaches disappoint me. They would rather waste 30 minutes jogging than doing their work and game planning.
Tico, that was a nice rundown. Never really thot of it that way but you could have added addition by subtraction, Heitmann and Baas. I would also like to put in a good word for STs, something BW disdained for some strange reason. "Didn't want to waste a pick on ST " was his reasoning. But looking back on 6 quick games, we entered this season with STs usually seen on losing teams, which we have been for 8 long yrs. We had Lee who got to practice lots of punting during games, and became phenomenal, and then by luck pick up Akers, who has helped beat both Philly and Detroit. Actually hats off to baalke on that one. But look at the winning drive sunday. Ginn returns punt
40 yds to 45 yd line. Jeez, talk about breaking someone's back. ALso he basically beat SEA. His KO and PRs have routinely given us another 10 yds in punt exchanges and Lee has given us another 15 yd in punt exchanges. That's huge field position advantage. I often wondered if Coach Walsh would have won 2 other SB if he had had great STs.

I didn't mean to belittle OL or O, D front 7 or DBs, nor the coaches. But STs have won us 1/3 or maybe 1/2 of our games this yr, when O and D played the opponents even.

Yes the special teams has been truly special. Akers is a beast. Ginn is one of the top return men in the game. And Andy Lee is his usual awesome self. We honestly have among the best special teams in all of football.

SD we're some of the few posters who have been through the rough times on this site over the years, cheers man, this is what we've always waited for
