Niners sign Brett Swain

Swain has extra value because he can play on special teams ...Crabs, Ginn , Walker, and Davis will get the bulk of the work anyway

But it's good we have an extra receiver around in case one of our top three go down with an injury ..Man I cant wait until Braylon gets back

lol, this is as funny as people ragging on signing blake costanzo who worked out really good.

If Harbaugh and Baalke see him as a possible replacement for now then so be it, I will root for him and hope he proves everyone wrong.

Exactly, look at Bruce Miller and most importantly Alex $mith!

Yeah but then what would we talk about on here?

We could talk about him being a good special teams player and Kyle Williams and Ted Ginn will now have a bigger role on offense until Braylon is ready to play again.
Before you naysayers go further into your act, consider this...he won out over some veteran WR's, like Chris Chambers, Houshmenzadeh (sp), Brian Finneran, et al. He was signed not just to provide WR depth, but he's a ST's ace, as well. If you haven't figured it out by now, Harbaugh's a pretty darn good judge of talent. The Packers simply didn't have room for him...welcome aboard, Brett.
Now that Morgan is on IR, this signing just went from temporary to permanent ST and back up player, didn't think he would stay on the rest of the season, but it looks that way now.

He will be the 5th receiver behind Braylon, Crabs, Ginn and Williams. He wont see the field other than special teams

And this week of course. He is Number 3/4 depending on DW..

I think we well see more of that 3 TE bunch set this week. So we will see how much time he gets.

In reality he'll be like the 7th receiver behind those guys plus Vernon and Delanie who split out all the time anyway.

HAHAHAHAAHA - Did anyone catch this??

Harbaugh threw passes during the workout to a group of wideouts that included T.J. Houshmandzadeh, 34, Chris Chambers, 33, and Brian Finneran, 35, a trio who have combined for 1,394 career catches and 120 touchdowns.

"There were some really good guys here," Harbaugh said. "The workout was really outstanding. You really like the whole group. It was like ‘That was heck of a group.' But I thought Brett stood out and was the guy."

The workout included a 40-yard dash. Undrafted rookie Joe Hastings, a member of the practice squad, won the race and Swain finished second.

That is the likely depth chart. Ginn wil be credited as the 2nd WR starting, but probably see more Delanie and Vernon out there. Plus Kyle Williams will see more time.

Swain will be on kick returns and punt returns coverage.
