Can't believe this is how Alex and co. were coached last year...

It's not revolutionary that receivers adjust their routes to the coverage...

It is a Martz thing, one of the reasons his qbs almost always have high interception ratios.

I am thinking the fake singletary that used to be on the David Letterman Show was very accurate.

It's always been the WCO thing that qb and receivers adjust their routes on blitz or change of coverage at the line. Montana and his receivers was doing it since Walsh got to the team. I remember Ronnie Lott talked about it when he first had to defend it in practice. Seems impossible to defend. But I don't think you can ask the qb and receivers to do this unless they have good chemistry and well verse in the offense and reading defenses. Montana and Clark had it.
Walsh was a good teacher, I don't think any of our OC beyond Turner is one. Sounds like Morgan had a hard time with it too.

This is what I was thinking. It sounds bad the way the article was written, but WR are supposed to be able to read and understand the defense and they have option routes.
Now, if this isn't properly coached, and with a QB that is and has been struggling it obviously isn't going to be effective.

This is a huge sign of why we had no success. The haters really need to look at that. Life, quaterbacking, playing receiver, business...has a lot to do with the situation you are put into. If the situation is bad, and it was, you cannot succeed. You may show flashes, but it will not be consistent.

You guys look like you're more in sync with the QB, what do you attribute that to?

Wow, if they would've confessed this last season, there would've been much less debate.

It used to be our opponents strategic game plan was a simple one: Make it so Smith had to beat you. Dare Smith to beat you.
Harbaugh is a wise f**ker...he has focused on taking that strategy away from our opponents differently than others. He's decided to attack it instead of trying to scheme around it. He's playing his own game instead of theirs.
Once it becomes established that a "dare Smith to beat you" strategy is not the best strategy (Smith/9ers don't need to become a passanova for tht to happen, you just gotta be able to inflict enough pain when they try it to make them reconsider that option)...the field is going to open up more, and Smith/9ers will enjoy even more success...which will open the field further...which will...which will...etc, etc.
Gotta hand it to Harbaugh, he's a smart, practical dude. I see a simple two fold strategy so far, a good foundation for opening the field up: Eliminate/limit offensive TO's, and take that "dare Smith to beat you" strategy away from our opponents.
I mean, if you were an opposing coach, why in the f**k would you employ that strategy if the likelihood of Smith/9ers making a mistake was low? You wouldn't...you wouldn't be counting on the 9ers helping you.
Sing had the right diagnosis of the problem "we are not a charity". After that...not so much, besides checking the film. Harbaugh don't need no f**king film to fix that s**t.

Like I have said before - the team playing bad = Alex bad, the team playing good = Alex good. Its a team sport won or lost as a team. Is why I had such a hard time with the haters they blamed the problems all on Alex - wrong. But on the other hand you cant say that Alex is the reason we are winning. Stability is everything and that is what Harbaugh is bringing to the team.

Why are they telling everyone this strategy or MO against the blitz. They need to STFU. They need to follow their head coach. Not give sh*t to the media
Wait... unless they are capable of making route adjustments on the fly. They are just making other teams thinking they aren't capable. Because that slant Morgan ran against the safety blitz was perfect route against that coverage. There's got to be a recognition from qb and receivers there....
