sus keeps it real around here. When things get too positive, he balances the force.
too early for this

if we go 9-7 or better with alex at qb he will be the starting qb next year

any less we have a qb competiton on our hands

we cant have this thread after 2 weeks of the 2011 season

Dude you do not know, you are just guessing like everyone else and being the negative type you are you are guessing the worst. Smith has gotten at least a little better every single year he has played without a broken throwing shoulder, and has looked even better through two games this season. I don't know what his ceiling is and neither do you or anyone else.

I know things you dont.

Please do tell o great negative pole of the webzone.

Okay Alex will have decent year 18 tds and 10 Ints with about 2500-2800 yards passing Qb rating of 85+. Then he will sign a free agent contract to be a QB competition in a team Seattle or some other crap team that will draft a QB early and he will be another stopgap just like he is now. Then after that he will finish out his career as David Carr is doing now.
I bet the Mayans were talking about Niner Talk when they predicted that 2012 would be the end of the world.
Alex is at best a good back up for the future. There is no doubt in my mind that either Kaep or Tolzien are going to beat out Alex for next year. However, the 9er org is going to sign another veteran QB, which will add competition and cause one of the above to be cut. There is hope next year, not because its another year, but because we have some potential talent at QB. I put most of my chips on Tolzien cause although he was only a PRESEASON standout, at least you can say he is accurate and not afraid to gun down the field. Like all QBs, it still means he will require protection to be effective, but again, he is accurate, confident, and actually put up some pass yards..

Lmao!!!
Maybe if we are lucky we can trade our entire team and The Gold Rush for Cam Newton.

Dude this is it, its year 7 we already know. There is no magic pill with this dude he has peaked.
Alex peaked in year 2 the last games against Seattle and Denver. After those games I thought we were set for the next decade.
Don't need a crystal ball for this one... Josh Johnson, Kaep, Tolzien... winner takes all.

No hating on Alex, I just don't see him coming back with Johnson coming on board (guaranteed signing).

Plus we have to free up JJ's jersey number

pretty sure if Alex has a good year we wont be goin after this guy. just because harbaugh is here doesnt mean were gonna try to sign every qb he ever coached. i have a feeling Alex will be here longer than many of us think.
I could really see this.

1) 8 years Alex Smith.... Because we don't have something better.

2) Scott Tolzien.

3) Colin Kaepernick. Light years away IMO.

If no more Alex.

1) Scott Tolzien.

2) FA / compete with Tolzien.

3) Colin Kaepernick / New draft pick.
