they have to, this would of been somewhat done during TC

we wont see a finished product until next year
I don't think this offense is vanilla at all. It's efficient, and improving every week!

The offense is slowly starting to click. It's going to be scary once it does. The NFL thinks the Packers offense is unstoppable...wait until the 49ers offense starts really clicking. Next year is going to be a GREAT year for 49er fans.

I agree. This is only the beginning!

Here is a breakdown of our running game by Brian Baldinger. It's a pretty cool video.

I actually would like to see some pass plays out of those formations that would really keep the deffense off balace. Can you imagie if we hit Vernon on the backside of some of those? Oh well, that is just me craving a stronger passing game like we had back in the day. I do think the O is coming around though. Alex is much better and Crab is turning it on. Overall though I think Braylon's injury's and the lockout has probably limited our passing game. I think next year with more time in the system, Josh Morgan back, and maybe one or two other additions to the receiving corps the passing game will be much more dangerous (I do think Josh will be back, and even if we bring Braylon back, I would still add at least on more player at that position.).

Conservative is the word every week in 49erland... And I hate it! We need to really open up this offense! Into something explosive
I think the last offensive TD we had in the 1st half was the Bruce Miller catch vs. the Redskins? If so, its been 5 weeks since we got into the endzone for 6.

So my xmas wishlist is for at least 4 offensive tds in the first half before the season ends. A few in the playoffs, more during the NFC Championship game and a ton in Superbowl

This will be the game Delanie Walker says don't forget about me, Bam!

Thanks for the link. Those overload formations, you just don't see that in the modern NFL. Or the Fly Sweep. The creativity Harbaugh and Roman and their staff bring is intense. Willingness to try anything. Man it feels good to be a Ninester.

This is what separates the cookie cutter middle of the pack coaches and the elite coaches. The average coach will copy the Wildcat or Spread and use it completely out of context from the fundamentals of their actual offense but elite coaches will mold it with some more tweaks into their formations or be the pioneers to first use it all together.
Do you guys think this offense is vanilla? I don't. Jimmy Raye's offense was vanilla. I think this offense is efficient. Its not flashy, but gets the job done. I see steady improvements every week. The coaches and players also see where they need work. Keep in mind that this is only the first year in what is normally a complex offense. It will get better.

This. They are just getting comfortable with some of the offense and seem to know that there is much more in this offense to make them very efficient and explosive too!
I want to see more alex smith 50 yard td passes.

Agree with both of you! The players are all saying the same thing..."just wait, you haven't seen anything yet." And Harbaugh/Roman are doing a great job of keeping everyone from getting impatient as they work through these new plays every week.

One of the things I have been waiting for that will no doubt take until next year to see is when they start playing like an excellent improv group. Plays will be so adjustable that they will line up see the D and just be able to react as a unit.

Right now they are calling two plays and using audibles, which is fine but many of the best teams all read together and adjust.Harbaugh has eliminated this so far to keep everyone focused on learning the basics. Previous coaches just threw them out and complained when a receiver did not see the same thing as the QB.

Remember the plays when two or three receivers would all wind up at the same place last year? I haven't seen any of that this year...coaching!

How can we make this offense better? I think it needs to get more explosive.
