The defense's biggest problem in the offense's habit for going 3 and out.

I have made it a habit to look at the TOP and result after every game, and in the past two games we have been cursed by TOP. We had six punts, and basically 4 of them were 3 and outs. Only three possessions longer than 3 mins, which does not bode well for a undersized defensive line going up against the Cowboys hefty defensive line. The main reason for this is the run game is very ineffective at this point, I know it's only two games into the season but Frank does not look like the same runner anymore. I think we need to implement more plays for Kendall and Dixon, ASAP. Alex Smith had half of the rushing yards with three carries, that Gore had in 20. We have to give our defense time to rest and it all starts with the run game. Had we been able to run the ball, this game would have been over at half. I strongly agree with your wider point, although I tend to point the finger at the O-line rather than Gore. Running lanes have been as rare as hen's teeth over the past two games. He had a couple of nice cutbacks in the first half and seemed to have decent pop early in the game. It's fair to ask if perhaps there's a conditioning issue involved, but I think the O-line remains the dominant issue.

I wish I had some real NFL tape to watch, because you can only tell so much on TV because the camera follows the ball obviously. I know the o-line is young and still need time to gel, but I think throwing in Dix and Hunter for a few carries could only help us.
