Nobody really knows, but I believe it's over.

: "Obviously with (Justin) leaving, someone has to come in … Whoever it is, I've got to help them out, we've got to work together, we've got to make each other better."

And this on his leadership, given a recent exodus of established veterans: "It's a role I'm comfortable with. Obviously, losing guys who were here – Justin, Pat (Willis), guys like that who were leaders — someone steps up. And it's something I have no problem doing."

And this: "Not having Justin, the guys coming in to fill his place, a lot of those guys have played with me."

it's obvious that Justin still wants to play, but he just doesn't wanna become a villain if he suddenly say that he wants to play for a championship team..

he knows that we are trying to re-start a program, and knows that it is not an ideal place for him anymore..

Even without discussing Justin's potential retirement, it's great hearing Aldon talk like that.

Lmao. The only reason I'm okay with the delay (assuming that the niners know the true status of Smith) is that it convolutes our draft priorities, making it harder for others to predict. Still, that GIF is hilarious

We don't "need" Justin or his big contract now but it would be nice and a major bonus for AA to learn under him for a year. It's more about how few snaps Justin wants to take this year. He's already going to be sharing snaps with Tank and as a result, his contract may need to be reworked to reflect that.

Agree w/bold

I think having Armstead work side by side w/Justin will be an investment that will pay huge dividends.

Lynch commented on how hard Justin worked out & watched film and that it really motivated him to emulate the work ethic.

49ers' Justin Smith Says Decision Coming Soon

Justin Smith plans to sit down with 49ers officials some time this month and decide whether he will return for a 15th -- and likely final -- season in the NFL. "You'll know in about three weeks or so," the veteran defensive lineman said.
