yes, he has a lot of influence. ST are a huge part of the game, even with the likelihood of decreased kickoff returns. Look at San Diego last year. Seely picked 3 guys it seems who made the team based on ST alone, and it will be there job, and Seely's, to help us win the field position game and to create extra possessions on turnovers.

Seely is regarded as one of the best in the business, and he's the assistant head coach to boot. While I'm not too big on Colin Jones, I have no problem with Seely's influence dictating that such a player makes the team. Now, if Jones continues to suck ass, we can revisit this topic.
I believe Seely had a very big hand in how the roster filled out. Good to see us getting younger and faster too!

Seely is also the assistant head coach to Harbaugh...so yes, he should have influence on the roster based on title alone.

Honestly Colin Jones is a player who will be waived when other players come available!
Jones was the guy that stuck out to me, too.

Although I'd be hoping that guys like Kristick, Constanzo never, ever see a play from scrimmage.

i doubt it. Jones, Spillman, and Costanzo were Seely's hand-picked guys. Unless the FA pickup is Seely's pick to replace Jones, I don't think he's on the bubble as much as some around here think.
Kristick needs at least 12lbs of muscle to be added to his frame. He is ok for ST but needs more bulk to be a backup LB
Is Ginn one of his boys, too?

Ginn is our best returner, and had a good offseason at receiver. I don't think Seely had to vouch for him. I think "Seely's picks" had more to do with coverage units and whatnot.
