Took the words right out of my head, that's a huge blow to the gut; but it's obvious that many of the players felt making Alex captain would be irrelevant/pragmatic to do the situation of his 1-year contract limbo (players want their captain to be a guy they know will be here next year; continuity).

But I love that there is now only one captain on each side of the ball; too many f**king captains causes clutter/problems, there should only be ONE voice on each side of the ball, and the players voted the two best candidates.

Go figure. Fans of the team have another reason to root for Alex.

I think the Captains fit well. Great sparks for both the offense and defense.
