We are a running team, both sides of the ball.

You might be right, but one thing I've learned is that you can't really take too much from the preseason. Our coaches on both sides of the ball really kept a lid on their schemes and just ran basic plays. Either way, I think that the running game will be a very important part of what we do, but who knows, the passing game may surprise us. Maybe your point of view is correct and that is just my blind hope. We will just have to wait and see.

As Obama always says it took 8 years to get in this mess, it is going to take some time to get out of it. I give QBs 3 years. I will give Harbaugh 3 years, but I want to see steady progress. None of this get dumber by the day crap like Dingletary. We have had a suspect secondary for a long time, always seems like our players that have good technique are 3" too short and a step slow, then we get a work out wonder like Mays who has technical issues and wastes his size and speed. I am just generalizing, it seems we haven't had any big play people in the secondary in a long time. They are more likely to give up a big play than make one.

The run game is always ahead of the passing game. We ran well for the most part and that will set up the WCO passing game.
The OL is always among the last areas to develop the chemistry to pass block. There will be highs and lows until this group fully grasps the new schemes and styles but they have showed the ability to execute though not on a consistent basis.
The real worry is the pass DEFENSE but we knew that was going to be a major concern. The "good news" is that the projected starting corners have not yet taken the field together, and that the Fangio defense has already shown a better ability to pressure the passer than at any time in the past 8 years.
For all the reasons we have discussed; lockout, new coaches/new schemes, etc., this team will frustrate us because they will be learning on the job in the first 4-6 games. There will be highs and lows, but the light is on as we see coaches that have shown they can adjust and teach, something that has been missing for too long.
We can discuss and analyze and have all that fun
but this team is going to need some time to come together.

this!
I am also pretty sure we have kept a lid on what we will look like in real games this season...(like I said before..I hope that is what's going on), like I also have mentioned previously, I think JH is a chessplayer type HC, it's what Carrol did last season; stunk it up in preseason games, then let loose when it mattered, I for one was surprised how the seahawks kicked our butts game1 after looking like hell in preseason...lets return the favor this time around!
here's to hope

Don't you know hope is a four letter word around here? Next thing you know Shaj will be in here calling you complacent for daring to have hope about your team...shame on you!

We ARE a run team on the offensive side of the ball.
However, we have a high potential to be a pretty dynamic passing team. Alex Smith has shown us flashes before. He's athletic. Frank Gore is a great pass-catcher and is one of the better pass-blockers. Braylon Edwards and Michael Crabtree have a wealth of talent between them. Josh Morgan seems to have good YAC ability, Ted Ginn is a vertical threat, and Kyle Williams is very shifty. Vernon Davis has the potential to be the #1 TE in the league while Delanie Walker is a WR playing at TE. The starting offensive line is composed of all first and second-rounders, and a Pro Bowl center.
That's just potential though. Alex Smith is inconsistent. Braylon Edwards and Ted Ginn aren't the most sure-handed WRs. Michael Crabtree hasn't had chemistry with the QB. Josh Morgan tends to disappear in games while Kyle Williams is still very young. Vernon Davis, while he's getting better, isn't the most natural pass-catcher and route-runner. Delanie Walker makes me nervous that he'll fumble. The starting offensive line has pass protection breakdowns often and guys get beat.
There's certainly talent on the offense. But there's also a lot of question marks and flaws with almost every single player that could stop us from getting there. I'm hoping Jim Harbaugh can change that.
