As a player, I would want to be there for EVERY game, not just to support my teammates, but to be there to learn what is happening during the game from the coaches and players -- to stay mentally 100% engaged in the game time process. It can't be due to expenses -- seriously, what would it cost -- $2,0000 per player? Shoot, I'd pay that myself to be there.

Maybe the team doesn't want the distraction? Or maybe they think the player should stay back and focus on rehab?

Could be just a preseason thing.
If they're too hurt to play, there's a good chance there are some risks associated with travel.

thats because you are a Fanatic... If you got hurt on the job and they gave you time off, would you still show up to every meeting/job just to watch?

I'd be chilling at home and fapping 42 times.

careful I heard you could die from that
i think its preseason.

ive seen plenty of injured players on the sidelines for all teams during the season. They show the player in his street clothes or jumpsuits.

In Pre-Season it's more important for them to work with trainers at the facility than go to a game on the road they won't play in. Rehab > travel time.

During the season any player on the active roster will travel with the team on road games. Players on IR/PUP will not.

There are some concerns about high altitude and swelling concerning certain injuries

Wow I didn't even think about this, in fact now I remember my doctor advising this when I had strained my MCL; it's simple, altitude effects the natural circulation of oxygen flow (which of course strains/alters the production/circulation of blood cells flowing throughout the body), despite the regulation of cabin pressure in your average 747.

I'm loving this new regime, and how it's handling training & safety measures, none of our key/important (active) starters got injured/knicked up in all of camp/preseason. *knock on wood*, and most injured players are healing better (now) than they would have in the past.

Our new 'medical director' hired on by Harbaugh is an orthopaedic surgeon at Stanford University (and was the same guy Jim -of course- used whilst coaching at Stanford).
