injuries on the OL always scare me more than anything, because, its like, if this crappy group of 5 is the best we have, what hot garbage is behind them?

But I think we're deeper at nearly every position than we've been in years. I feel better about our OL depth than about our starters, if that makes sense. Maybe just on potential, with guys like Kilgore and Boone; I feel like maybe there is a "future" on the bench, not just some washed up dude like Sims.

I am happy that, so far at least, knock on wood, we are getting through preseason pretty healthy.

Hope he gets better asap they said he could start practicing soon!

If Staley is out more then 3 games this year then the official injury bug tag can be placed on him. But what do we really have at OT, Staley, Davis, and Boone...do we need to shuffle them around? What do we have at C and ROG, Chilo and Kilgore, not very reassuring as of now. OTC did mention this in another thread but maybe we need to move some guys around to be more effective. Maybe Kilgore at C and Davis at RG but what do we do about LT and RT? I don't trust Davis protecting any QB's blind side and nobody knows what Boone can really do as a full time starter. The line is a bit of a clusterf**k and honestly don't really want to put a new rookie QB behind them to get injured or shell shocked.

If Edwards plays like his former probowl self then Crabs could be an afterthought. Hunter and Dixon may be able to take the place of Gore if he gets another injury, but that's a big ?.

We need to draft a good amount of depth at the OL this year, and need at least 1 rookie starter from the bunch. We could hypothetically lose Chilo, Wragge, and Snyder at the end of this season, we will need new blood very soon.

In the time your claim covers, the team has had 9 first round picks. In my estimate, only two of those picks can be considered wastes or busts. If I am right, the notion that these wasted picks are piling up seems comical.

1. Anthony Davis— 2010 Draft

We had two first round picks in 2010. We got Anthony Davis with pick 11 and Mike Iupati with pick 17. Anthony Davis, one of your wasted picks was only drafted one year ago. Generally, it takes longer than one year to evaluate a draft pick. At best your claim that he is a wasted pick is premature. Given the fact that Davis started 16 games in his season, your claim seems stupid.

2. Michael Crabtree—2009 Draft


This wasted pick has started 26 games in his two years with the team. He has caught 103 passes, for 1366 yards and eight touchdowns. This claim goes way beyond stupid-- moronic describes your claim better.

3. Kentwan Balmer—2008 Draft

I agree with your assessment of Balmer. In two years with the 49ers, he never started a game. In two years, Balmer accumulated a total of 19 tackles. We traded him to Seattle after two years for a sixth round pick.

4. Joe Staley—2007 Draft

Staley was our second first round pick in 2007. We got Patrick Willis with pick number 11. We traded back into the first round to get Staley at 28.

As a rookie, Staley started 16 games. In the past four years, he has started 50 games. Calling him a waste seems imbecilic.

So if you are drafted in the 1st round and start games for us you deem the pick as not wasted? As for lawson, those numbers you boast are 4 tackles pg, 1 sack in every 4 games, 1 pick in every 28 games. That my friend is "flat out ludicrous".
