Does Braylon Edwards have more character than he is given credit for?

I think he is just on his best behavior cuz he is on a new team and he still has the DUI hanging over him and not knowing what will happen.

He has been in trouble everywhere he has gone. With that being said I dont care how he acts as long as he produces on the field

apparently it is true, I guess Harbaugh has known Edwards since childhood.

Braylons dad and Harbaugh played football together
Braylon's never had a bad attitude. He's always been an upbeat, likeable guy.

The problem that Braylon runs into is that he makes a lot of stupid decisions when alcohol is involved.
He needs to get with Boone and try AA. Most of his problems have come from his imaturity and big head. So many pro athletes are so conceited and selfish that they think they are above the law until they aren't. Hopefully he is on the right track now and he will be able to enjoy his popualrity without it making him stupid.

...and that is a character issue.

Let's hope the family connection with Harbaugh is enough to straighten this guy out. The true test will come when things go badly (there is always a time with every team when that happens) if Edwards will be part of the group that will pull the team through it, or part of the problem.

The test of character is not about when things are going well but how they deal with adversity.

Team Obliterator is a bad example, he really is a head case with clear abandonment issues, hence his desperate need to be the center of attention.

I think a more appropriate example would be Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson. An incredible work ethic overshadowed by the media's cynical interpretations at Chad's taste for humor.

At the moment, it seems Braylon is closer to Chad's category than TO's

He is running out of chances and is doing all he can to save his career.

Good luck to him.
Almost every player in the NFL has more character than given credit for. No one is perfect. I don't know where all this BS about pro football players needing to be choir boys for us to win came from. Football is a mans sport, and some men are crazy b*****ds who can flat out play.

I was skeptical when we signed him, but so far he's looked good(its only the preseason, I know.) If he keeps it up, I say sign him long term and trade Crabtree, just my opinion though. I'm getting sick of Crabtree's attitude.

Getting rid of Crabtree makes zero sense. How are you getting sick of his attitude? You have the locker next to him? Did he not sign an autograph for you? If so what does this have to do with playing football?

I get where he's coming from, but "sick of his attitude" is a bit strong. Fans just want to see him healthy and doing everything he can to prepare himself for the coming season. If his injury is legit, then we have to give some slack... but many suspect his injury is a ploy to allow him to be lazy. I am pleased to hear from Harbaugh that he is allegedly putting in the mental work at least. Well see what happens, but no one can truly say that he's been giving his all to the team since being drafted.

That's why I said it was my opinion.
I think this is the perfect environment for him to take the next step. I want him signed to a long term contract before the end of the season.

Good things.
The sason hasn't started yet, we will find out he reacts under game and seasonal situations. Remeber-T.O came in as a supposed changed man several times but always ended up the same-causing disruption. However, hopefully this Michigan connection with JM will make a difference and he will be the player thought he could be when he was drafted so high.
Maybe the guy has finally grown up and realizes what it means to be a professional and just how lucky he is to get paid millions to play a game.

That may have been true earlier in his career, but late in his career he has definitely and extremely noticeably settled down. Even still, the media was absolutely harassing the guy just to get a story out of him but he's done pretty well not to bite. The media loves to do this -- look at Favre; he has no intentions of playing again and the media jumps to create a storm of hoopla at any chance they can with him.

If there's a guy who has a desperate need to be the center of attention, it's Ochocinco. I don't hate Chad either -- he can be funny -- but I do think he makes some dumb decisions.
