But I gotta be honest, dude shows some nice moves with the ball in his hands:

Pretty good hands. And tough run. Rathman didn't catch much in college. Maybe he sees himself in Miller. We can only hope. But I think Harbaugh and Baalke want a thumper first and foremost.

I immediately thought Dumervil when I saw this pick. The production is ridiculous in terms of sacks. And he is actually taller than Dumervil. When I saw that they were talking about moving him to FB, my jaw dropped. If they don't play this guy at LB they are CRAZY! Put Smith on one side, Miller on the other and you might as well tie a pork chop to the QB's back!

Love this pick, IF he stays at LB.

I agree World. I don't care if they try him at FB. But they have to let this man play LB. He's to good not to play LB.
Apparently he going to get some trys on Defense.

Quote:
“I am kind of shocked,” Miller said. “It was kind of hard for me to believe that I was going to have a chance to play linebacker. That was a little bit more realistic than fullback. So I’m pretty shocked that I got the opportunity to play as a fullback. However, they did say that I’d come in and hopefully get comfortable at the position and maybe in a little while we could try some rush on the defensive side.”
I like this pick and move to fb, i think he will be a bruser in time! Good hands too, like how he caught it away from him!
Not a huge fan of trying to convert players into postions they havent played. I really hope they let this kid play on the defensive side of the ball.

Biography: "Four-year starter awarded all-Conference honors since his freshman season and named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year in 2009. Senior totals included 63/13.5/8.5, two interceptions, and two pass break-ups. Junior numbers included 61/18/13. Posted 17 sacks as a sophomore."

Positives: "Pass rushing defensive end who projects to linebacker in the NFL. Plays with terrific leverage, gets underneath blockers, and fluid moving in every direction of the field. Chases to get involved in the action, plays with explosiveness, and effectively uses his hands to protect himself. Possesses great first-step quickness, keeps his feet moving, and wedges through blocks up front. Consistently gets penetration, shows ability in pursuit, and goes very hard. Flashes ability to drop off the line and play in space on zone blitzes."

Negatives: Lacks the size to be an every-down lineman in the NFL. Does not have great height for an outside linebacker.

Analysis: Miller has been tremendously productive on the college level and is a defender with a nonstop motor. He's a situational pass rush specialist with a special teams mentality and should find a place on an NFL roster.

Projection: 6th

Harbaugh said he isn't ruled out @ OLB, but that they're going to try to work him into a FB.

That said, if they took him solely as an OLB, I don't think he'd have much of a chance to crack the starting lineup. In that scenario, he'd end up a backup LB and special teams contributor. As is, he can still be a backup LB and special teams contributor and also possibly fill the FB position.

I don't have a problem with the pick, particularly as a 7th round selection.

I want to see how test to him. I want to see him first to play in preseason games if he have a talent at OLB or DE when he can get a tackles at RB and Sacks to get at QB.. Or He is failed to tackles at RB Or failed to sacks to get at QB in the Preseason.. then He can play position at FB.. that is Simple it..

He was drafted as a FB. The team talked to him about the move to FB before they drafted him.

The man is happy that he was drafted and is willing to everything he can to make the team.

I am pretty sure that he will make the team. He could end up as a FB or a LB--maybe on the inside, but his best chance at starting is going to be at the position he was drafted to play.

But everything will come out in the wash.
