Seems like this years QB group has not only been over-hyped but also over-criticized to death. But with so many teams needing QBs, I wonder if Ponder or Dalton or anyone else will be there at pick 45. I wouldn't bet on it. I could see a trade up from 45 though.

This is truly profound insight. I don't think anyone on this site has noticed that Dalton and Ponder are particularly good fits, much less noticed it about 2 months ago.
Can we merge this thread with the "worst beat writer" one? Seems appropriate.

This article goes with the line of thinking that I've had when they started all the talk about not being able to agree on a new CBA; we're probably gonna get a 17+weeks(preseason) helping of him who's name we do not type.If Harbaugh can win with him, fine. That guy would be crazy to resign and put himself back in this franchise's pressure cooker with the fans wanting his next appearance in candlestick to be against the lions....not the team, the furry quadripeds that eat people. This draft is reminding me too much of 2005 with no clear #1 choice. Or maybe it just feels that way because this offseason, we don't have the illusion of being able to believe a QB on our roster will be able to turn the corner.

I'm not sure why so many posters around here hate Lowell Cohn. Is it because he writes things some of us don't like or agree with? The guy has been covering the Niners forever. He used to have personal conversations with Bill Walsh and George Seifert. He knows more about the NFL and professional sports in general than most of us can ever hope to. Can someone explain the beef people seem to have with him. I'd really like to know. I do find him annoying at times because like a seasoned opinion writer, he does try to provoke responses, but that's his job. His job is not to always write what you want to read.
And, come on, he's 100% spot on with this article.

If we get Peterson with our first and Ponder or Dalton with our second, I'll call this draft a home run.

Just hope we get the right one, amid the overhype and over analysis.

I agree! Peterson is arguably the best player in the Draft and Dalton might have the best leadership qualities, something our offense has needed since the Jeff Garcia era.

I love to cite his following statements regarding Pat Barnes as reason enough to dislike Razzano:
"He's a winner," says St. Louis Rams scout Dave Razzano, "and you can tell by the way he gets the ball in the end zone when his team is inside the 20. He makes quick decisions, has pinpoint accuracy, moves well and has a strong arm with a quick delivery."

Granted, scouting is either hit or miss. I just have yet to come across a player Razzano has hit on.
