Kiper Re-grades the Draft

I firmly believe this draft will go down as one of our best in a LONG time. Looks like iupati will be a perennial probowler, Davis played very well down the stretch and has a ton of upside. If all goes well, we could have our franchise LT , G, RT (staley), and be well on our way to a DOMINENT OL. If bowman, dixon, and mays continue to progress...this could be one of the best drafts we've had that I can think of. Drafts are too important to screw up..to me, it looks like we've struck gold this time! Here's to building on it in 11! VonMiller or bust!!
New secondary coach Donatell could be the guy to really coach-up Mays and his teammates. He was Denver's DB coach and did an excellent job on a bad overall team. His presence in SF could also be a factor in the Champ Bailey "sweepstakes". Not saying he'll sign w/Niners, but I think Donatell being here improves the chances.

Sounds about right. It was a very solid draft.
Well, it's still a bit earlier for a final grade on this draft. We gotta wait a few more years.

Iupati looks like he'll be good. But is he better than Pouncey?

A Davis had an okay rookie year. He started, but he also played poorly in pass protection....much of the time.

Mays........uggggh! Taken too high. The scouting report has been...........spot on so far. Mays cannot cover...... He has great straight line speed, but is slow to change directions.

We need Navarro to produce as a LB in 2011!

I agree it's a bit too early to grade this draft.....it would be easier tho, if it were a terrible draft......we'd already have a pretty good idea if they sucked horribly.
Is Iupati BETTER than Pouncey? Who knows...they play different positions. Both were selected back to back, and both look like studs...so far! Iupati looks like a beast, and plays like one. He was NFL ready from day 1!
You mentioned Mays and Davis also....but what about Bowman, Dixon, Byman, and Kyle Williams. I think all played well in their rookie years....especially Dixon, and Kyle Williams had flashes of punt return skills.
IUPATI...Stud
Davis...Getting there...I think he'll be a Stud
Mays....hmmmm....jury still out...but that blazing speed is refreshing
Bowman....looks good for a rookie
Dixon....Looked GREAT in preseason, and Good when given the rock in Regular Season.
Kyle Williams/Byman....Williams in particular looks decent...and what do you expect from the 6th round?
Phillip Adams.....who?

I can't wait til year 2!! It'll be nice to get some actual coaching! This has the making for a SOLID draft! Lets follow it up with another and fill those holes!!
Cool that B+ draft grade got us a 6-10 season.
A. Davis is a bust
who the f**k cares about what kiper said. he's an idiot. all he is; is a damn lobyiest. seriously just look at last year! Jimmy Clausen was supposed to be the s**t huh???? I think just by watching Jimmy won't have a future as a starting qb!!
Im watching some rookie show on ESPN right now, who did we get in the 4th again? We should be downgraded a little for not getting Mike Williams.

I think he's absolute garbage, well at least that's how he played in 2010

He got off to a very rocky start, in part because of an inexperienced center and poor play by Rachal. As the season progressed he got much better. He controlled speed rushers very well - pitched a shut out against Clay Matthews. Still struggled against power rushers but some focused time in the weight room should tone him up and solve that problem.

Overall, he played about the way a lot of first round OL play. Joe Thomas had the same kind of first year. So did Jake Long and a bunch of others.

Have faith. He will be much better next year.

Unless you're an all-star lineman, the only time you hear about offensive linemen on telecasts is when they give up a sack or are called for holding or false start. So it's tough to evaluate a single guy unless you REALLY look into it.

Or there are the people that record the games and hone in on specific line players after the game is over for evaluation.

I'll be VERY surprised if Anthony Davis is ever more than average. Hope he proves me wrong.
