Some people are hatin on this guy because he didn't do well last year. What 'these people" don't realize or have any knowledge of is he had a terrible OL with no talent whatsoever around him.
Jake Locker would fit very well in the wco compared to some of the tall immobile QB's coming out.I say Harbaugh will grab him if he's available.

Fail
This guy's accuracy sucks. The HC who drafted him(Brian Billick)had said he needed to work on it.

Everyone's bashing Alex, deserved to some extent, but he stands a chance of coming back. If he does, as bad as it seems, he's our only real option. *shrugs*

Swami says: It will end up being the best available free agent starting, with T. Smith as backup. The Niners will draft a third round sort of diamond in the rough QB as third string.
T. Smith with coaching will be a better than the T.Smith of last year who was given no reps and was thrown out there with four Singletary plays to work with...the results were actually better than what could have been under the circumstances.
They will draft too low to get any premiere QB next year anyway, so their only chance is to get a guy who has the physical tools, but is maybe from a small school and isn't well known. JH will like the challenge of getting him up to speed in a couple of years, the equal of the better known QBs.
A.Smith will be the decent and safe choice as backup on a decent team, but not this decent team.

I watched him play quite a bit. HE struggles.

Troy > Alex at getting sacked and getting scouted out of being effective, and at causing locker room turmoil... and at yelling at the coaches on the sidelines.
fixed

The 49ers were put on the clock by NFL Network on Thursday. Their experts broke down the 49ers options at the seventh overall pick. Charley Casserly and Charles Davis also mainly assessed the 49ers quarterback situation. Davis trotted out different systems that Alex Smith worked with in his tumultuous six years. Casserly, the former general manager of the Redskins and Titans, was asked by Burmeister if coaches aside, was Smith good enough to be an NFL starter?
"At the end of the day, I'm sure he's good enough," Casserly said. "I'm not sure the arm strength is good enough to make the throws you need to make. The consistency I don't think is good enough. There's something missing there. Ultimately, I don't think he's the answer for the 49ers or any team in the National Football League.

even the experts agree

Okay, how about this...
I just
in my mouth a little!!! HELL NO!!! He would be cancer in the locker room and I genuinely dislike him. I pray to the football gods that we don't draft him.
