They are both black and played for the 49ers! If you are talking about talent the answer is NO! John Taylor could eaily been a #1WR on other teams. Taylor did damage to other teams and put fear in defenses around the league. The most memorable moment I have with Morgan was about 2 years ago when he got caught from the back after making a catch.

Crabtree will excel in this offense because he is a RAC kind of Wr.

Yeah, I've pointed that out before. Like Taylor, he plays mean and has a vicious straight arm. He also has that smooth, loping running style--looks slow despite the fact that he's moving at a good clip. Last, he seems to have Taylor's work ethic both at practice and on Sunday when he's off the ball.

The similarities end there, unfortunately, as it will take considerably more refinement to get Morgan (whom I like) up to Taylor's caliber of performance. But he seems to be the kind of guy that you can coach up.

Fingers crossed.

morgan will be riding the pine, book it. Harbaugh can spot talent and that, Morgan does not have.

I would have agreed with you before the last few games of the season. I think Josh has showed he can catch the ball if you throw it his way. About the middle of the season I was ready to give up on him but right now I'm not sure. I don't have a problem with drafting another receiver.

I think Terrence Toliver from LSU could be a mid to late round sleeper just because LSU’s passing attack is not that good.

This.

we need to bring in a WR that is opposite to that of Crabtree. We need either a Speed guy with hands or a big-body jump ball type guy. Morgan is good once he gets the ball in his hands but he should not be a #2

A John Taylor type Wideout. I agree..

Jerry Rice #1
John Taylor #1A Best receiver after the catch I have ever seen

Why do I get the feeling this is gonna turn into another Alex Smith thread. Morgan and Taylor have completley different body types, Taylor was long limbed in both arms and legs, Morgan is built more like T.O., Taylor was fast and and could break tackles,........... Morgan?
while i do not think morgan is not john taylor i think he is talented. He had a bad coaching staff around him and bad qbs. Just give him some time under a new head coach. I think he will be good. He has good hands. He has speed. He is big. He just needs a good coach all his problems are ones that can be fixed. He has the physical tools.

I doubt Green would be there in the 1st, but if Blackmon were available, I wouldn't be surprised if he would be the choice.

Let's be honest. Crabtree has been a huge disappointment, both in work ethic and production. It was clear a part of that was his disrespect for the coaches, and to a certain degree, the rest of the team. Eric Mangini was right. He is a diva to a large degree. Hopefully Harbaugh will coach that out of him but if he doesn't, or until he does, this team needs a true #1 with speed.

I actually agree with you dj..All this hate for Morgan who has exceeded his value to the team as 6th round draft pick. It's not like we're paying the guy millions per year. All the talk about he can't make a over the shoulder catch????? Didn't any of you blind haters see the final game vs ARI?? He made a real nice over the shoulder catch that actually had some nice touch from Alex for once..

On the other hand everyone's favorite is a first round diva who IMO is not living up to his billing. If you blame the QB situation for Crabs you can say the same thing for Morgan. Crabtree does not look motivated to play to me.
There is nothing wrong with Morgan. He is a fine pick for a 6th rounder.

I am feeling it is time to quit talking about all of the players on the team in respect to their past performances. The longer this nightmare has gone on, the more obvious it has become that the majority of the failures are either directly or closely related to failure of the staff to properly instruct and train the players.

It was informative to me that in his presser, Harbaugh repeatedly came back to the role of the staff to "coach up" the players. I'll bet he said that 6 times. The repetitiveness of that statement indicates to me that he believes there is a great deal more ability to be had from the current team with a solid staff of position coaches and coordinators.

He has a terrible work ethic and half-asses it during games. There's only so much coaching can do.

Morgan is definitely good in YAC, but he's slow, and is a long strider. being a long strider is good for YAC, but not in get open and running routes. You have to use quick and precise feet to get open and run routes effectively. Maybe it has to with Sullivan, and its good his ass left.

Agreed. I'm sick of seeing Morgan alligator arm passes when no one's even there. Never lays out for his QB, especially when the game is one the line and you really need to. Morgan is a #3 on almost any other team in the league. We need a true complement to Crabtree.

Agree x 2 and also tired of seeing short arms. I would like to see a fairly high draft pick and a FA to raise the level of competition. Two guys who are fearless and run great routes.
