it's closer than you think. Haralsons suckage goes unnoticed because of the other lb's he has playing around him

I don't think so bro, Goldson is by far the weakest link. He cannot tackle or cover and is constantly out of position. I do not think Haralson is a great player, bu he isn't playing his natural position and sucking like Goldson.
1. Goldson
2a. Haralson
2b. Clements

He was one of the top defensive ends in the SEC, in a 4-3 defense.

They are tied for worst or at least most over rated IMO.
Soap, franklin, haralson, goldson, lawson (in a 3-4), are replaceable. If the niners use a 4-3, I would keep lawson.

goldson sucks ass this year too. no one on defense except for spikes and willis can actually tackle someone the first time. coaching is the reason. too busy worrying about punching people in the mouth.

Clements is the best tackling corner in the NFL (toss up between him and Winfield) too bad he just can't cover as well as he tackles

that's why I want to move him to FS with Mays at SS

you are right

He is a physical aggressive corner which means he needs to be AT the LOS getting his hands on the WR (he owned Fitz and Boldin because of this). He is not fast enough or agile enough to be playing 10 yards off and having to react to the WR's move. He needs to dictate the WR's move by controlling him at the LOS but we for some reason don't play to our players strengths

I agree with you, Sims. But, I'll concede that Nate isn't getting any younger and he's got to realize that he can't rely on his diminishing speed and quickness. He's still plenty quick and fast, but he's got to start compensating for the fact that he's not quite as formidible in the raw talent department as he once was. When the legs begin to betray you, you've got to use your brain to compensate a bit. Clearly, I think that means being a bit less aggressive.

On a final note. My disgust with Dashon Goldson knows no bounds. The guy can't cover and he sure as hell can't tackle. Nate, on the other hand, is a fearless tackler that simply doesn't miss. Moreover, his cover skills are outstanding for a safety. Were I either the new GM or HC, I'd give that move some serious thought.

I agree he needs to be smarter BUT at the same time, because he isn't getting any younger, controlling the LOS will drastically help. It will put him in a better position to defend the pass.

Safety is not a bad option at all, but he will have to take a pay cut because that is one EXPENSIVE inexperienced safety if you ask me. Goldson was a complete let down this year I was actually looking forward to him breaking out this year but wow, did he ever drop off. Goldson has to go and Reggie and Nate can compete for that FS spot. Mays should be ready to go next year

yep

He's constantly outran by running backs and even qb's (mcnabb) I'm not saying that goldson is good by any means but haralson sucks just as much

2) Goldson

Couldn't tackle my dead grandmother.

Couldn't cover a pickle jar

But he could hit the pickle jar with his shoulder then fall down while the pickle jar teetered past.

Couldn't cover his ass buried in sand!
