Its not a secrete that John York hated Eddie D. and tried to minimize Walsh's legacy, lets hope his son is different. Will find out in the next month or two.

I'm no York fan but how can anyone minimize the legacy of Bill Walsh? It sounds made up.

Ask John York that? I remember an interview that Razor and Mr. T did with the late Bill Walsh a while back and he didn't have very nice things to say about York and his frugal ways, including not paying Walsh for his services. I am not making this up.

well on tv they said that John York tried to keep Walsh as an advisor and very close to the team which Marriucci did not appreciate. so one of you are wrong, or you both are.

Is that all you have?
Thats all I have. You? I don't see you offering much, just a big mouth.

Well at least I haven't indulged in personal abuse unlike you. The point being you made the remark, not me. I just asked you to back up what you said. And you haven't been able to.

Like I said it was a knbr show that Razor did with Bill Walsh sitting for Tom Tolbert. I doubt if you could find it in their archive since its been several years. However, Ralph did mention it not too long ago. Plus this is sports talk so take it for what it is. I just don't like your smart a** comments. That all.

Its easy, you can call Ralph and ask him, i am sure he'll remember it. You might have to wait for an hour or two, but there is a way.
i'm not giving jed a full vote of confidence just yet...mommy and daddy still run this team

I think that young English is merely trying to "get your goat," and appears to have succeeded.

Everyone knows that John York wanted to head in a different direction from Eddie D. and put his own stamp of glory on the franchise. Unfortunately -- it didn't work. In fact -- he failed -- miserably. It's taken awhile for the family to come full circle and back to the answer they should have chosen a decade ago -- but I suppose the lesson had to be learned.

Well -- the Yorks learned it. The hard way. Eight straight years of horrid football tends to do strange things to people. Unfortunately -- it's an education that the York family needed. Well -- they got it -- in spades.
Jed is not his father. everything he said at the monday press conference led me to believe that his uncle will have a heavy influence on what happens to this team. he was asked who would be advising him and he mentioned Eddie D and Robert Kraft the owner of the patriots by name and also said he would be talking to people high up in the most successful franchises but he mentioned that it will mostly be Eddie D's input because he made this franchise great and gave us 5 superbowls so who better to ask. i think his old man was the business type that really didnt give a s**t about fixing anything as long as he made money but Jed realizes that success will bring in more money and he will fix this. i was very impressed at his answers during the interview, young jed will get this right.
Jed is not through with anything. He will continue to provide a unstable and incompetent franchise by continuing to shuffle poor GM's and HC's.

Continue to expect no namers at HC with average stays of 3 years. Each time he "fires" an HC, fan loyalty will be renewed and blind hope will soar again, thus the Yorks take home profits will always be what they expect and ultimately only care about

last time coaches were hired the old man was the one running s**t. Jed looks to have the fire his uncle did and he advises him heavily. im excited by the coming changes. he mentioned the patriots and Eddie D as advisors. i couldnt think of two better organizations to get ideas from than Crafts Pats and Eddies Niners.

I don't get excited from appearances...I need more substance than that.

Craft is a competitor, and will operate accordingly
Eddie has always advised Jed, I fail to see how that has helped so far.

that was a halfass hire. mcs**tty was still in here from the John York era and he had input with all his business guys walking around the building. this is the first pure hire that jed is in charge of.

I'm still waiting for an explanation of how York or anyone for that matter could minimize the legacy of one of the greatest coaches of all time. His legacy is history and you can't change history. Right?

I disagree, Mike Singletary was Jed York's guy. It was his first real big hire and he failed miserably. There's nothing that would suggest he is qualified to make a GM hire. I don't care who's in his ear, the bottom line is we need Jed to make one good hire and the GM can be accountable for the rest.

i agree he has the fire. but it's yet to be seen if he has the knowledge.

Makes sense I guess.

That is just what I was thinking when I read the OP.
