Don't wanna rain on anybody's parade but I'm just wondering. Yes, Eddie has 5 SBs. But what were his actual MERITS? Hiring Bill Walsh (which Ray Ratto just called luck a few hours ago) and spending big money. Today's NFL is different. Can't buy your way into the SB.

Don't get me wrong, I love Eddie. But unfortunately he acquired this mythical aura that seems to make people believe he is capable of turning water into wine.

Dan Snyder has proven that money doesn't buy winning. You have to spend it on the right players and have the right people in place. Walsh didn't build that team all buy himself, there were a lot of other people in on those decisions.

Spending doesn't buy winning TODAY. Before the salary cap it pretty much did. Only the teams with the most purchasing power competed for the SB year in, year out.

Like I said, I love Eddie, but he isn't the savior people think he is. Back in the day some of his actions were actually detrimental to the 49ers success.

I disagree with this statement. We weren't the only team with money but we compensated our players well.

How many players did we sign for huge contracts from other teams? I seem to remember a lot of our core, highly-paid talent being home-grown but I could be wrong.

And that would be the Bill Walsh part. But really, go check how much Steve Young made as a BACKUP. And he couldn't leave because tere wasn't free agency.

And in '94 Eddie D bought a SB with his checkbook. SanDiego is right. People are getting to hyped up. I'm optimistic, but I'm gonna wait to see who they bring.

'94 they most definitely won a SB with the checkbook but I think you're forgetting about the other 4 SB. Walsh wasn't the only person with any say in those drafts, he had a lot of help. Again we weren't the only team spending money, we just spent it wisely.

I think at this point Jed seems to be doing all the right things but I'm with you on waiting to see who they bring in.

He had help, but it was his show. He had ASSISTANTS, nothing more. Yes, we spent wisely, the "spent" being made by Eddie D and the wisely by Walsh and his staff.

Again, I just fail to see many examples of Eddie D's football expertise, that's all.

These past 24 hours have been full of win.

I don't know who asked this question but fast forward to 14:34 and listen to Jed bring some ass.

Reporter: You're going to be hiring a general manager. Can you assure the fanbase that you have the expertise to make this decision?

Jed: Yes

Reporter: Who you going to talk too, specifically, to help you?

Jed: Who would you talk to if you were me?

Reporter: I would talk to very good general managers and owners around the league that know more than you do!

Jed: Like my uncle who's won 5 superbowls?

Yep, total pwnage!

Yup Lowell Cohn owned Jedster when he showed the Petulant Child he really is when faced with a few tough questions he didn't like. I bet he never had tough questions or situations growing up. As a Billionaire kid with a Gold Spoon I'm sure the worlds rough edges were smoothed out for him. Can he handle this job? I have my doubts if he blows up at reporters who ask tough questions.

If your family loses for a decade you will get some tough questions...

Eddie D knows a hell of lot more about football than any punk ass big mouthed Lowell Crone.

I rest my f**king case.

He's not involved in anything. It's been about a decade since he was. It's a marketing ploy to indicate "new found hope and change and a better, brighter future."

"Lets build that Billion dollar new stadium at taxpayer expense."...

Why you hating already ???

Let them hire someone and see how they do before you start the hating.

You guys are just getting way, way too hyped up about all of this. The York Family in the past has said many, many things...

"Money is no object."
"We are committed to winning."
"We want to compete for a Super Bowl every year."

Talk is very, very cheap. Especially with the York Family and their track record. Show me. Don't tell me.

I just want to see something before I get all hyped like you guys...

Thats how am I like to hyped about stuff, I like to have positive outlook on stuff.

If I thought this team truly doomed with no chance to turn it around then I would have to stop being a fan. It would be pointless and a huge waste of time to continue to cheer for something that you think is always doomed.

Holy s**t, we agree again!

Fist bump.

Do it!
Wow, all these York defenders!

Awhile back there were all these clapping emoticons when Singletary tried to intimidate a reporter (Cohn?) who asked him a question he didn't like.

Evidently, it is real scary for some people to have things questioned!

York deserves to be treated roughly. So what if he lashes out and gets mad. We fans are the ones who should be mad, not a bad owner!!!!! Screw him. He should be playing with toy trains, not people's lives.

That being said, I'll be glad to put down the torch and pitchfork and walk away from his little McCastle if he now does the right thing.

Then until you see something happen that worth anything, why don't you just shut the f**k up with your negative replys to our objective posts.

Any subject that may turn positve or may have value, you shoot down because you" don't see anything happen". Well, oh f**king well, you're just like the Yorks then since nothing good comes out of your mouth.

You find any way possible to whine like a little f**king girl about what the team says they're going to do, what they do, what they don't do, what they say they wont do.

WHAT THE f**k IS IT?

You don't have to post... its all negative from you all the time. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. You're like a rabid f**king dog ready to pounce on any trash that's put outside when it comes to the Yorks.

Quit being an a*****e. Hope YOU get warned for b***hing and moaning

You guys are getting overly hyped about words. Lets see what the actions are. Like Lowell Cohn I ask tough questions. But it doesn't mean they don't need to be asked.

We didn't just win the Super Bowl because Jed had a press conference and promised to do things better...

SORRY DUDE. i'm f**king sorry that I am happy that we are going to clean house and are going to hire a GM and a good HC. Please f**king forgive me. I hope one day I can be like you and cry about everything that happens related to the 49ers.
In Sunday's game, pretend that we are looking at our youngsters to see who we will keep, and lose the game. Get as high a draft pick as possible. None of this crap about having a win to build on.
I am amused at how many Alex haters have indicated how impressed they were with Jed and how he handled himself with the reporters questions. These are the same people who reminded us how Alex sucked for six years. But they have few critical words for the Yorks who have been abject failures in their hirings for far longer than six years.

On the other hand, I applaud the many of you who express cautious skepticism and a commitment to withhold judgment until a later day.
SD's posts don't even surprise me anymore, is 99%crap.

What's really shocking is how many of you "feed the troll"

SD is nothing but a grumpy dude who will never be happy unless the niners go 19-0 and even then he'll be angry because the team probably won't be able to have back to back 19-0 seasons

I have expectations of Championship level hires for my beloved 49ers. Many of you have lowered expectations to fit with the Yorks years ago.
