The 49ers had 5 guys blocking 4 Rams and couldn't even give him 3 seconds...and how is that Alex' fault? Chris Long runs right around Anthony Davis for a strip sack. AD didn't even slow him down. OL protection was spotty all game long.
Once again, if you only watch the guy with the ball in his hands you miss out on all the rest of the game.
The protection was not great, but that coupled with Alex's terrible pocket presence, is a recipe for disaster!
Alex is never the problem, or even a part of the problem. EVER.
If he fumbles, it's the line's fault. If he throws an interception, it's the receiver's fault. If he rips ass and forgets to keep it silent, it's on the taco shop that sold him the burrito.
No, there have been plenty of times when Alex has been the problem, however, anyone who wants to maintain any level of credibility around here should also recognize the many failings of other players that lead to the QB looking worse than he is.
This team is NOT a playoff team by league-wide standards. I don't care what Jed or anyone else says, this team has more holes than swiss cheese. It need a MINIMUM of five new starters including a pass rusher, RG, CB, #1 wideout if it is to have any chance of more than one and done in the playoffs.

I think Alex gave us a better chance of winning than Troy did.
But it doesn't matter... Troy's going to probably be given one chance this offseason to fight for a starting position. Alex is probably going elsewhere, and (I believe he will) resurrect his career as a back-up-->future starting QB to a Brady or Manning.

49ers would have gotten clowned regardless cuz none of our QBs is worthy of holding Bradford's jock

Hasn´t anybody noticed that who ever plays QB sucks in the same way??
Alex is afraid to make a mistake, Troy wasn´t until Sing initimidated him.
With Sing as coach the Catch and the Catch II would never happen, those are plays were the QB is making a risky throw, hence he could make a mistake.
Bottom line it does not matter. It´s over. Clean the house bring in a GM, a new HC, a new QB, a passrusher and a CB.
Just look how a good QB can change a s**tty team, the Rams were 1-15 and Bradford is the real deal I´m not looking forward in seeing him twice a year for the next 10+ years.

I hear you bro. At least the Cards don't end up with Andrew Luck. Lord knows they had enough suck in them to get that top pick, thank goodness they didn't.

Going into yesterday, and previous weeks when healthy, Alex gave us the best chance to win, period! Is he a great QB? No. However, he gave us the best chance to win by far. And I believe every player minus Ginn would agree with that.

Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda - it's all crap!
Reality check - we suck and Jed did the right thing. The sooner we move on - the sooner we get better.

If Aaron Rodgers was drafted instead of Alex Smith, would we be a better football team?

You could argue both sides, but we'll never know.

If President Bush Jr was never elected, would we be in the recession?

Yes. Despite how they argue they can fix it...the Pres has little influence over the economy.

sucky OL, sucky WR's, sucky QB, we're f**ked. There should be NO offseason for this team. They need to start working as soon as this season is over.
