How good do you think Nate really can be if they're not even willing to let him dress throughout the season. Knowing how bad our QBs are. I don't buy that playbook crap since they let a guy who was in our offense for 2-3 weeks start. They must really think he sucks.

Please don't start the Nate talk again, a PS player is not the savior for this team.

Nate can barely learn THIS playbook. Can you imagine him trying to learn a Gruden playbook.
He should feel lucky if the new coach finds him a spot as the #3 next year?

True but Andrew Luck will! Trade up if needed! Qb is a priority big time!

I would cut Troy Smith and David Carr, and keep Alex and Nate. I think Alex is just a back up QB, not a starter but a back up. He's a team player, quite guy, smart, keeps his head up. I think we keep him knowing that if our main guy goes down Alex can come in and keep us afloat, history proves Alex is $$$ coming in off the pine. Hopefully a guy like Palmer is out there, who we can get for a 4th or 5th round pick, but could possibly return to pro bowl form with a change of teams. Then we can draft a guy like Pat Delvin giving us a fierce ota/training camp/pre-season QB battle. While giving us numerous options if someone goes down.

I just hope whoever the new 49ers QB will be next year, that the Alex fanboys will show him the same support they showed Alex because they certainly didn't do it from Hill, Troy Smith, Nate Davis, and David Carr....and any QB not named Alex Smith.

We have wayyy to many holes on this team to try and draft Luck, let alone move up to draft him. We would ruin Luck like we did Alex.

i am not saying that he is capable to be our savior all im saying give him a shot to make the team whether it be as our #2 or 3rd stringer
i still want the team to draft a QB but i just dont want any of the guys that are active to stay on the team PERIOD
all 3 of them cant cut i rather have Nate as back up n see what he can really do out there

I thought Alex was lighting it up in training camp, or at least that's what you told us.

are you serious NOOB??? did you just become a 49er fan in the past season's
you would rather have him take a roster spot then sign someone more capable like Donovan McNabb or a Carson Palmer
A MILLION BUCKS SAYS SMITH WOULDNT EVEN COSIDER TO RESIGN WITH US
& i hope to god he doesnt either

If Luck declares, I'd give up Gore, a 2nd round pick and a third rounder

Id keep Troy as a number 3 guy. He's not good at all, but he's not Ryan Leaf or Akili Smith either. He doesnt do much, but if he's lucky...you can get a 300 yard game from him.
I say get McNabb in FA.
Draft the future and let him learn from a seasoned vet.
Hopefully get Gruden in and implement the WCO.
