Editor's note: Yes Dandy Don was a Cowboy. So, what? I would happily have had Meredith QB'ing this team over either Smith. Last night's drubbing of the 49ers at the hands of the San Diego Chargers (Fortunately, I missed the game as I was watching the broadway production of Mel Brooks'Young Frankenstein; and yes, if you're curious, it was epic), I believe, did that which many of us have hoped for: seal the fate of the atrocious leadership of the organization and spelled the end for one of the more turbulent, frustrating, and overall, just plain sad tenures at QB in 49ers history. In the end, none of us can fault Alex Smith for his work ethic, by all accounts, he is a worker. Nor can we really fault Mike Singletary, Samurai Mike if you will, for his preference for motivational speeches over game-planning. Much like Smith, this is who Singletary is. Sadly, it is not what we need to win. I will not speculate about when it is going to happen, I am just telling you that it is going to happen. My source? I don't need one. In this world of overly passionate journalism, why should a nobody hack, such as myself, need a source. Nobody else seems to need one. With that being clear, I am telling you it is over. Since it would be in bad form, and the mods would move this post if I were to mention anything about it, I cannot make any suggestions on where we are going to go in our coaching search or who will be quarterbacking this team next year. All, I am saying, with a little help from Dandy Don Meredith, is "turn out the lights the party's over...." I am Fropwns

As of this moment, I don't think it's over..... now I don't want to go into all the "if the Rams and Seahawks lose twice and we win out we're in" but all I know is this....we deserve to make it to the playoffs.

no we dont. i hate to say it but its true, no good can come from this team tripping into the playoffs. some temporary instant gratification mixed with a heavy dose of back hand reality when they have to play a team who earned a post season trip. this team cant beat teams above .500 they're not good enough and idc who takes the lions share of the blame from game to game. this team is a joke. am i rooting against them.......NEVER.... but i do want this season to end asap. if the team and all those involved can continue to stink it up (which wont be easy for these last 2 games) imho it will only make the transitions towards sustaining success in the future easier.
