49ers Safeties

Actually, don't the 49ers play a lot of Cover 3 and Quarters?

I don't know where the safeties were on the play where Clements had Jackson one-on-one that led to a SD touchdown though.

Checkdowns and hot reads killed us. We took away the deep route......mostly, that's how Sopoaga was able to get a sack.

That has been the weakness of the 49er defense all year long.

From a general sense, my thought process is this:

1.) Rush 4, 5 guys who are really good at pass-rushing... and you can have some very nice coverages, a la the Colts.
2.) Have a great secondary who can cover one-on-one, and blitz the house, a la the Jets.

Right now, we have neither. Our secondary, at best, is average... Meanwhile, we don't have a TRUE pass-rusher. Justin Smith is decent, while the rest of the defensive line is marginal.

It's the reason why we're not a more effective defense.

Mays is 10times better. He's better than Goodson. Dingleberry didn't even tell Mays why he isn't playing. This coaching staff is the worst

All the safeties are liabilities.

I want them to let Goldson go (I never understood why people like him so much anyway) and move Clements to FS. Then give mays a chance to develop at SS.
