this team has talent and lots of it, they just lack talent in 3 critical spots. HC, CB, Qb
I believe we have the talent to compete with a lot of teams but we are always handicapped by our coaching staff.

Considering we are 4-5, I think they pretty much broke even.

I don't buy the lack of CB talent. Many, many teams in the league, including the Pats, have acquired CB's off the street and have devised schemes to make sure they are protected from big plays.
I think our issue is the coordination between the Safties and Corners within the scheme. There is a disconnect somewhere in there at certain times.

How about turning around for the ball? that falls on coaching for sure. I think Goldson is playing hurt but guys like Will James
disgusts me

I think on ball defensive fundamentals is the coaching. They need to practice more in the specific situations. Under Singletary, it almost appears as though the team only practices generalities and don't pay as much attention to detail. Under Nolan, the DB's played much better. Nolan was very good at forcing the better QB's to struggle against us. His problem was that he was working with Mark Roman.

Favored in 10 of 13 games this year. We all know why this team keeps losing and I don't believe it has as much to do with talent than it does with crap coaching.
Crap coaching, yes. I also has to do with the proximity of San Francisco to Las Vegas and the propensity of 49er fans to wager with their hearts over their heads, consistently skewing the line. The 49ers are normally not a good bet for that reason. I am not a gambler, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night.

You can't win very many games when you don't have impact players at the three most important positions along with an inexperienced HC.

In the case of the Pats, they have THE best coach in the league AND a future HOF QB, which makes up for average CBs.

I just don't think the talent level is THAT bad. We aren't losing because of talent. We are losing because of mistakes made on the field being them ball protection (early in the season) or mental (happening now). Coaching is terrible. Now you combine that with the fact the we have subpar QB play and that's the reason why this team must play near perfect. We are trying to compensate for the two biggest reasons of a teams' success.
Off field coaching (HC, OC, DC) and on field coaching (QB, FS).

Off field coaching (HC, OC, DC) and on field coaching (QB, FS).
However, this defense can't cover and it can't rush the passer. Those aren't coaching issues. Those are talent levels. You can say some are mental and some are physical but they are both a part of the talent.
Now you add in the fact that the remaining key component, the QB, is also sub-par and you have a team that is 4-7. That is what they are, a 4-7 team that has to play a perfect game to beat any decent team not from the Phoenix area. What coaching decision would have changed that?
