Will the coaches let the offense do this again?

With Gore, Alex never won a game by throwing over 235 yards.

First healthy game without Gore, he gets a win and throws for 255. Bell-cow philosophy FAIL.

seriously got a point there

I think the better question is CAN THE DEFENSE DO THIS AGAIN?

Yeah, we'll need this kind of performance at San Diego. I just hope we can consistently bring pressure. We seemed to get Matt out of the pocket pretty often, but we only ended up with the one sack (and fumble). I think we may need more than that against Rivers, especially since we can't count on him to make the same kinds of mistakes Hasslebeck did today.

From the get-go, there was a sense of urgency on both offense and defense we haven't seen in some time. Alex showed some rust, but he made plenty of plays...any time you end up with a QB rating of 130.9 you're doing quite a bit right. OL was pretty solid...it appears youngsters Iupati and AD are starting to get it. Thank God for Westbrook...showed some pretty good speed on the 62-yarder. Dixon still dances too much, but is making progress. Great to see Morgan get the ball...for all the problems between Alex and Crabtree, Josh really played well. Ditto Vernon. Also great to see the secondary pick off four...Hasselbeck really made some dumb throws, but we'll take it. They'll have to rev it up vs Rivers...will need some serious pressure, a la the Raiders. But, for today, proud of the way our guys stepped up when they had to.
The Good:
1. Johnson called a good game and was aggressive.
2. A. Smth played well.
3. Receivers caught the ball.
4. Oline played well enough.
5. Backfield got some interceptions.
6. Defense played well enough to win.
7. Scored a Defensive touchdown on the first series of the second half - excellent.
8. Good mixture of runs and passes.

The Bad:
1. Took their foot off the gas at the end of the third quarter.
2. Fair pass rush.
3. Crabtree did not catch the balls he should.
4. No sustained drives in the second half, due to #1 of the bad.

Overall - We won and looked professional doing it. Still hope.

agreed for the most. re: bad#1, at 4+ scores up you're already lookin to go prevent d and run the clock

this team could not afford to take their foot off the gas, Alex just came back from what 5 wks on the bench, he and the offense needed to stay focused and agressive. Defensively, we took advantage of Seachicken mistakes and needed more time to work out a pass rush. They needed to end on a high note to carry momentum in order to have any chance against SD.
Pete and his Seahawks can suck a dick

I agree about the training of A. Smith and the offense. They already know how to be passive, but they need to still learn how to be aggressive. I think the parallel is New England. A. Smith and the offense needs to mentally stay in the aggressive mode until it becomes second nature.

In addition I think that the whole teams mentality today was aggressive. As long as they stayed aggressive they played well. When they started going into prevent mode, then the offense and the defense started gearing down and they played like they usually play - soft.

None the less it was a good win for us.
