Westbrook decision related to trying out rookies to save money theory

Westbrook can play. It's the same damn thing the Sing did with Alex. Gore needn't look over his shoulder either.

I'm not so sure I buy the theory-though nothing would surprise me with this crew. I just think they don't know what the hell they're doing.

I call B.S. due to the fact that he had his salary worth in incentives, $1.25 salary plus $1.25 incentives. We can get Troy Smith playing, Taylor Mays, Bowman, Iupati, and A. Davis but one of our smarter Football veterans doesn't get it until now.

It's sad because it appears as if we were trying to avoid the incentives.

It was said that it's difficult to take Delanie or Gore out but isn't Westbrook an equivalent to Delanie Walker?

I'm beginning to think that the rookie "experiment" was to keep some veterans from reaching incentives.

except, the coaching staff doesnt write the checks. The owner does. Last I checked, Jed doesnt make the depth chart or call the plays.

I would just like to say that our team beat writers are as dumb and retarded as our coaches. Not only do I believe they read the zone for information and knowledge about the team they are suppose to follow, they leach us for topics and headlines. Why is it that they are just as slow as are coaches to grasp the f**king obvious.

Westbook isn't playing much because of Frank Gore. It's been well reported and REPEATEDLY reported that Frank does NOT like to come out of the game. And since he's been essentially the reason people even bother to watch 49er games over the past few years, I think the coaching staff has been giving him his way. The reason I suspect that no one challenges him on it is because he's (likely) very respected in the locker room, and it would be a relations nightmare to essentially tell Frank "too bad."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to tag him as a "team cancer" or anything, but fact is fact. The problem with Frank is that while he's very good, he can NOT carry this team alone. He needs to swallow some of that ego, and not make a fuss about splitting carries.

We have a proven vet, and a VERY capable rookie behind him.

Getting them more involved in the offense is nothing short of an excellent idea.

Why: if they wanted to be cheap they wouldn't have signed Westbrook at all, they would have signed some undrafted rookie free agent for minimum

I do like that our coaching staff continues the bone-headed habit of telegraphing to the opposition what we are going to do on offense. Now when the Cards see Westbrook on the field, send a couple defenders his way, no gain. The Dingletary Way!

Isn't Sing still in charge of roster moves?! I don't think he is smart enough to make these moves to dodge contract incentives. Dude can't even figure out what he's been watching on fillm for the last 11 weeks.

That's true, but his ratio of quality runs to middling carries hasn't been good this season. Rubberneck may be on to something: he's only now recovering from his heavy work load and subsequent string of injuries with the Eagles.

At any rate, with Westbrook's vulnerability to concussion on each and every play, I'd rather see Dixon getting the balance of the available playing time.

those incentives are so low, i really don't think that's the reason.
