After we realized that was not working, we decided to run Frank Gore up the middle because in my mind, Tampa Bay wasn't expecting it. By the 4th quarter, the play action and draw play up the middle with Frank Gore was not working at all. We decided, and you all can BLAME me, was that the best course of action would be to continue to run Frank Gore up the middle. Frank Gore was our best option because as the head coach, and make no mistake about it, I am the head coach, I made the decision that Frank Gore running up the middle would eventually work for us based on what Tampa Bay was doing, that is stacking 9 players at the line of scrimmage daring us to run, which we did, we answered their challenge and in my mind, did very well. We only lost by 21 points, and the playoffs are just around the corner. I really believe this and I think the players will play better next week on MNF."

He probably is admired by the guys for person relationships and not admired for the play-calling and such. And you would have to think that there are cliques of supporters and non-supporters.

Maybe the players still like Singletary, but they don't seem to have any confidence in the game plan or adjustments. This is worse than not liking the coach. The players didn't like Vince Lombardi, but they trusted his leadership.

Its pretty bad when we have a coach who is dumber and harder to listen to than Nolan.

He said he hasn't heard anything about the players giving up on Sing. Nothing that he's noticed himself, or been told by a player says that Sing's lost the team.
He also said he has no idea why this is the case, since obviously there's reason for it to happen.

I guess that is what I get for not reading any posts in this thread before posting

They'll always play hard for Sing, they really seem to like him and want to win for him. Unfortunately, they are starting to realize that they are at a huge disadvantage in terms of strategy. Players are usually sheep though, especially guys in our locker room. If we had a guy like TO or Irvin or Young/Rice here, they would've protested the first week of training camp.

It's sort of the same with Alex Smith. Some guys dont "lose the locker room" but deep down everyone knows "man this just isn't working." But everyone likes the guy (Sing or Alex or whoever) that they just keep supporting him.
It's easy when when the team personally DISLIKES a player/coach (Brad Childress).
One of our exec VPs probably will get fired and doesn't really belong in his position but everyone loves the guy so people make excuses and just see the "good."

You forgot to mention how excited you were for the players to run up the middle.
