People are just flat burned out with Alex. Not that he's the problem. But that he was drafted number one overall and we don't know any more than we did back then, other than he's been hamstrung by incompetence across the board. I don't blame anyone for being tired of this, but the venom spewed in his general direction is completely undeserved imho.
I mean dude never once pulled a Vick toward the fans. He's always been classy and respectable to our fan base. Even when they booed him.
Until #11, I always liked to believe our fan base was pure class. Lately it reminds me of absolute trailer trash. Wish I could do something about it, but there it is. You can't change people for the better when their minds are made up. At least today's Loss shed some light on what the real problem has always been. We make average QBs' look like contenders and our own look hapless.

Jeez Ceadder, where you been?
Alex is a stand-up guy and I did think he did handle everything with class and respect him as a person. Does that make him a good football player? While there are tons of glaring issues with this team, Alex has done nothing for this organization.
Isn't it a little hypocritical of you to compare our fanbase to trailer trash, but expect that they respect YOUR QB?
I really don't understand why you are so hitched to Alex. He has never shown that he will be a great or even good QB. Many here, including myself, have supported Smith in the past only to be burned. Then he gives you those small glimmers (very small!) of hope with decent play, but then he burns you again. It is a constant cycle that describes his 6 year tenure in SF. It is time for that tenure to end.
Not "hitched" to him. Just hate to see this kind of thing happen to a guy that could be a solid player.
I also fail to see the hypocrisy in my expectations of our fans. I do see the hypocrisy in our fan base that whine about the Yorks sweeping the Class out with the empty bottles who then take cheap shots at a guy because his coaches don't understand the first thing about momentum.
Lots of you have gotten personal with the attacks and that has always gotten stuck in my craw. I fail to see how being personal about it can be identified with Class. You see for me growing up a 9er fan meant that you could criticize players publicly without taking a virtual dump on them.
Case in point when I was no longer happy with Barlow, I didn't make it personal. I just pointed out that I was tired of the Dancing with the Stars routine. I'm the guy that coined the term.
I got fed up with T.O.s' act? Didn't get personal just straight up called him out about his selfish attitude and was happy to see him leave. Even when many here were personally attacking the Yorks for it. Like they could do anything about it at the time. T.O. wanted to be released but failed to turn in the paperwork on time. That's his lack of focus. So when he was being traded I was all for him going to Baltimore. Instead he went to Philly for a washed up player. But I never make it personal.
Unfortunately our fan base does make things personal and that is why I compare the bulk of them to trailer trash. No class havin filth that believes that it's cool to get personal with venomous attacks.
Hypocritical would be for me to do the same things and then say something about it, just to clear up that sticky point. I never got personal with Hill or JTO or anyone else who donned the Red and Gold.
Oh and I chose to hang back, before I blew a vein in my forehead. I've said time and again that it wasn't the QB. My point was proven yesterday. As well as the stance that Singletary was the same as having Nolan on our sidelines. Same philosophy, different person. I said this back when people were whining about Nolan.
Sullivan is making my case yet again. It's not the players. It's the coaching staff. Look how long it took for Ziggy to get on the field. Morgan was injured and our staff took it's time to get a worthy sub on the field with the game plan. Too bad TSmith and Ziggy have zero chemistry.
