The guy in the picture is Jeff Reed, the kicker the Steelers cut today. He's infamous for drunken debautchery in western PA. Until this season, he was a pretty good kicker. For as much as I hate the d-bag it might not be a bad idea to try him out, because I fear Andrus, Hindolm or Waters could be synonymous with Cortez, Pochman and Wade Richey and with important games on the line we don't need missed chip shots and extra points ruining the season (even more)

we need to draft Georgio Tavecchio out of cal, maybe a 3rd rounder could do it.

We drafted a kicker named Doug Brien in the 3rd round, and that worked out great for us.....

Maybe 5th or 6th...

I'll always remember Cortez for this awesome kick

I'll still take the one on his left my right for a night of drunken debautchery(God the Zone is getting educated), and stretch it into a weekend of lust and passion!

I agree. To my mind the 3rd round is where you build a team. Moreover, kickers are so long-lived that it's not really worth taking a risk on one in the draft. Money, not draft picks is, to my mind, the best way to solve the kicker problem--even if you are paying above market value. After all, a kicker is the only guy on the team that can actually singlehandedly win or lose a game.

I remember calling that Cortez would miss that field goal. Seeing the 9ers play like that, and the old school NFL PrimeTime before ESPN went to s**t gave me goosebumps.
Theres no reason we shouldnt pick up Jeff Reed. He's definetly the best kicker on the street....BEHIND MORTEN AND GARY ANDERSON!
Is it that hard to find an elite punter/kicker? No knock on our guys or anything... just genuinely interested if there has ever been a dude that performed both duties? If you think about it, I'm kinda surprised that it's not a common thing.

Think back to our kickers before Nedney...and who are we gonna pick up? Until Nedney shows that he just can't do it anymore, there's no reason to cut him. He's one of our most consistent players, and it's easy to underestimate that value of consistent kickers these days, especially since we aren't winning.

I was thinking this last week! If i were a coach, I would find somoeone that does both to free up a roster spot. It makes so much sense......No brainer if you ask me.

Agreed. Nedney has been injured throughout his career and has always bounced back. I say stick with him until he starts missing easy ones

Give me the guy that's lights out at 35 yards, rather than the guy that sometimes hits a 53 yarder.

A sniper at 35 yards lets your team know what they *must* accomplish.

Side note: at 2:28 look at the stat at the bottom. 13 for 18 on third downs. So depressing
