I don't know about you but I do not want to see Sing as HC in 2011 unless he really proves to me that he can actually coach in this league. On the other hand if we tank this season we will likely land a good HC such as Bill Cowher or Jim Harbaugh and he will draft Luck and we would finally have a good coaching staff for once. It a double edged sword and whatever happens will have its pros and cons.
P.S. I ment to add "and draft a QB" to the second option but I ran out of space

I dunno it depends. I honestly feel like we won't go anywhere with Sing long term even if we do get lucky and win the west this year somehow. I kind of rather he get fired and we get a franchise QB and a coach that knows WTF he's doing, but I'll cheer for the team to win anyway because losing is no fun and they're my team. Ideally we go on a run and win some games and make the playoffs and they fire Sing anyway afterwards, and draft a QB, but I doubt that we make the playoffs because this team doesn't seem to get out of their own way. I think we lose to the Rams which is going to suck and that'll be the end of the season basically.

My heart says I'd rather win the division, but in reality, whoever makes it from the NFC West will be an undeserving team and shouldn't be in the playoffs. If we win the division with an 8-8 record, I'd be happy for about a week, until we get spanked by whichever team we're put against in round 1. If we win out (I know that won't happen) and wind up 10-6, I'd feel a lot better about being a playoff team, but winning a division with a mediocre record like 8-8 will only ensure Singletary's job and we may be looking at a similar season next year.
My head tells me we should tank, but that would only be good if we brought in a fresh, offensive-minded, QB-friendly head coach like Jim Harbaugh and we draft a guy like Andrew Luck. I know he's said he won't come out this year, but if Harbaugh leaves, he will leave. I DO NOT WANT TO TANK, but if it means competent coaching and a good QB, it's better for the FUTURE of the 49ers. BUT, there's always a possibility we hire another crappy head coach and draft a bust QB, in which case we'll be exactly where we are now.

Cosigned 100%, except that I think we won't have another bust QB and we'll hire a good HC. We pretty much found out what not to do with Sing/Nolan/Smith. If the Yorks can't figure out what to do after that, they'll never be successful ever.

Didn't we already have this thread?...
~ New owner.
~ New HC
~ New coordinators.
~ Better players.
That's what I would rather have...

Unless a new CBA gets ratified, there won't be a football season next year.
Here's an interesting article quoting Jerry Jones about how not having a CBA in place might effect some teams decisions regarding coaching changes. BTW, I know it was written on Saturday, before he fired Phillips.

Depending on how the CBA talks go, is it a possibility that we're stuck with Sing next year too? Think about it. Would the Yorks fire Sing, hire a new coach, and then have to pay both of them even if there's no football season next year? We all know how they like to throw money around.

A new CBA will be agreed on, Jerry Jones will have a big say in it and it will be partially because he needs a next season otherwise this year will majorly hurt the cowboys brand if fans have 2 years to think about this horrible year and they're not building towards anything. There'll be football next year, IMO all this bulls**t is just posturing.

I say we go with the scenario where we all start threads and when nobody posts in them we keep bumping it to the top hoping that someone finally posts something to make us all feel better about the thread we started. Then someone like me can fill it with run on sentences, punctuation and spelling errors.
