Yup; but, as a fan I'm enjoying having a decent QB. If even for only one game...

and Garcia's height.

What is this statement based on? I could see if the guy didnt have the talent, but this just sounds like hater talk to me, care to back up that statement?

This statement is based on having lived a little and seen players come and go.

The great Bill Parcells once said "Don't bust out the anointing oil just yet"

Let the guy play a few games before judging him.

This, if he comes out and throws 4 picks in the first Q then you guys will call for Carr again......

WE WANT CARR, WE WANT CARR!

time to say good bye Alex....

It's been time to say goodbye for a few weeks now. The only difference is now (for now) we have a QB who has shown to be a better option. But this thread isn't about Alex so please do not turn this into another Alex Smith thread. We have enough of those that you can cry and complain in.

Correction, if he underperforms for the next 6 years despite being coddled by the organization, then we'll call for Carr again.
Damn...a QB finally gives us a little hope around here and the haters have to piss all in our pool. Nobody is realistically thinking that Troy is "The Real Deal," or the next Joe or even a our starter for the rest of the year. Sure, anything is possible, but the first two are unlikely (says Mr. Obvious) and the last one doesn't mean much.

But let us celebrate JUST A LITTLE here. I mean, this guy hardly knew the playbook, had yet to take a 1st-team snap as a 49er and hadn't started an NFL game since George W was President and he still managed to pull off a win.

Again, nobody should be crowning the guy just yet, but it's nice to see our QB finally play with a little swag.

Meh, where have you been the last few years? First JTO showed swag in his first couple starts, FAIL. Then Shaun Hill showed swag in a bunch of meaningless wins, FAIL. Then Hill showed swag again vs. bums in the beginning of '09, FAIL. Then Alex showed swag vs. the Texans, FAIL. Then Alex showed swag again vs. New Orleans, FAIL. Now Troy showed swag and LEADERSHIPZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ............meh, my myopia ran out a lonnggg time ago.

Troy Smith showed pocket awareness and mobility, two things those other guys who had brief success never had. That to me gives him a much better chance at succeeding than those other clowns.

All those guys showed the same thing in those starts that hyped everyone up. 9er fans are just addicted to kool-aid.

All I can say is let the tape roll on for the Troy Smith job interview ...... Let's just see what happens next.

Did Alex have "meaningless wins" as well?

Right, but we are setting oursleves up for failure by being optimistic? If you've lived and youve seen players come and go then you know that probably nearly half of the greatest qbs ever werent high draft picks or immediate starters, favre, brady and brees come to mind. I agree with you that we should let it play out but to me you sound like your leaning towards a pessimistic view, considering what we need at qb i think its feasable that troy could flourish and become our starting qb long term, some of us have also lived a lot and seen a lot of football, even played it, and can understand what we our watching. 6'0 qbs arent handed starting jobs in this league which troy would have earned had he not gotten sick in baltimore. Ask garcia and brees. And btw, i wasnt looking for the parcells quote that we've all heard 100 times, i was more so looking from a valid argument from you, but i didnt find it. So i guess your vague generalization will do.

Sarcasm? Surely you jest!

Does that mean you would be coming to my comedy show this weekend?
