cool story, bro.
Every year there is a fan claiming that our current crappy year is the turning point to something great.

Guess what happens the following year? More crap.

we as fans should be lucky our team was very successful in the 80s and early 90s. sometimes you gotta be down before you go up. i say we are more than a coach away from being a good team but thats a start. we dont know if our next QB will be a montana or a drunkenmiller. so lets just hope we can get things together like in 1981

I drove up to the DMV and sat in the car for a couple of minutes thinking about how we have the players to be great but here we are at 1-6. I then looked up and saw that the building across the street had the numbers 1-9-8-1 written as the address to the complex. I then thought to myslef, "we are just a player and a coach away from being great!"

30 years ago our franchise changed forever and now we stand here in the midst of a season that should have been. People will say that we were just one player away from being solid, but the truth is that we are just a coach away from being back in buisness. So I say if we have to go 1-15 this season to get Harbaugh and draft Luck(maybe our QB of the future might be Nate or Troy who knows?) I say we should have our expectations HIGHER next year!

Lets say you're exactly right. What makes you optimistic about a new coach when we all know that the Yorks have NEVER hired a GOOD new coach? Will they just get lucky next year? How many people in the organization are even qualified to conduct an interview for a new coach. Oh, wait, Jed doesn't do interviews.

We had the future best QB of all time sitting on our roster, one of the best head coaches of all time, no salary cap and a free spending owner during the 2-14 season of 1979.

Fast forward to today, no qb in sight, the worst head coach in the history of the NFL, cheap owner, and no real front office people. There is no comparison to 30 years ago, other than we are the exact opposite.
give jed a break. The guy inherited his parents mess. I think he will be competent enough to find someone good.
How about one big win away. London is our turn around game. One big win can lead to many more.

We all under estimated the Raiders. We where taught a lesson. We will learn from it. It's not over,it's just beginning.

The Alex Smith era is over in SF. Things will change around very fast in the next couple seasons.

Ok, lets say we go 10-6 and then maybe we get a win in the playoffs our we bow out. You forget that we will be stuck with Dingleberry as our Coach! I will give your prediction some thought if Troy Smith does well. If we are stuck with Alex for the rest of the season I say your point is absolutely void in Niner talk land. Love the optimism though!
We're perpetually stuck in 2004.
