SF Giants have won more World Series games than 49ers have won football games. Is this a positive?
We beat the Raiders.
We are poised to go places next year. Provided that we get a new coach and QB.

2) Realization that the Mike Singletary project was a failure.

3) Realization that Crabtree will continue to grow and improve if he's involved in the gameplan.

Thats about it, but the first 2 are BIGGIES..................now we can rebuild.

Completely agree....but I would go a step further...

4) Realization that the Niners need to spend some serious money and hire experienced, competent "football people" in the front office.

If you look at when this franchise really turned things around, it was when they hired Bill Walsh, (as we all know, a very innovative offensive coach). He brought in John McVay, who had a about 3 decades worth of experience in the NFL.

John and Jed need to go to Denise, reach inside her purse, pull out some serious cash, and pony up for some guys who have proven track records and are innovative.

It makes me sad when I think this team could have had Mike Shanahan as coach. Instead, they chose a motivational flasher.
after Alex is gone, NO MORE ALEX THREADS!!!!!!!

Smith is finally exposed for the bust that he is. (although some of us have known this for years)

Sing will be replaced and hopefully we will finally get that offensive minded coach we have lacked since Mooch.

also I just saved a bunch of money on auto insurance.

Niners gotta be loving the Giants right now because nobody on the radio or tv is talking about how bad the niners are right now.

Its like the bay area has forgotten they even exist.

-Not re-signing A. Smith (6 yrs full of injury and disappointment)
-Firing Singletary (used to have a lot of respect for him, not much anymore)
-Drafting top 5 pick for next year (might finally find our franchise QB)
-Fired OC Raye...finally!

We need to keep DC Manusky, OC Johnson, Baalke official GM and find new HC (experienced for once).

HES PART OF THE PROBLEM

Sing is exposed for what he is -- and is not -- and will be gone.

McCloughan is gone, along with some of his bad picks (Balmer).

Iupati and A.Davis get their rookie year out of the way. Chilo gets more experience under his belt. Baas shows he can play, at center. We get Solari as OL coach and Ray Brown as assistant. This year is the learning curve, our OL will never again be as bad as it is now.

Ginn and K. Williams should improve the return game long-term.

The rest of the year should finally spell Alex's fate.

Taylor mays will be one of our best players next year. Needs to rome

Some old db's who can't cover any more are gone -- Roman, Lewis, Bly. Taylor Mays upgrades S position.

Poor season plus need to hype stadium will force Yorks to spend big bucks for brand-name HC and a couple of key free agents.

High draft position in each round gives us a force at CB; A pass rusher? A QBOTF? A #1 speed receiver with hands who can catch in traffic?

Read post #27, I addressed this with reasons which you may or may not agree with. IMO, problems is not defensive play-calling, but players not executing them during crucial times in the game.
