I hope ur joking cuz as much as we disagree, I wuld of never thought u wuld of been on of those classless on that day.
Cuz honestly I don't think it was classless to boo. That's what fans do sumtimes. It's the We want Carr that was the f**ked up part.
That chant was going on for a while before it got real loud and everyone joined in. Alex didn't do himself no favors early in that game; but, I'll tell you what. I'd chant it again after seeing the fire it lit inside that kid. Classless or not, it got results!

I still can't believe that after all these years of Alex Smith drama, the Niners have turned to David Carr.
49ers have been screwed sooo so bad.
FML, FML, FML.

Just fess up. Were you drunk? Are you just that frustrated with Smith that you really don't care if the backup is worst? Both reasons I can understand. Or maybe you just started following the NFL this year and did not know who David Carr was?
Inquiring minds want to know. That was a fairly large crowd chanting that..some zoner has got to have been one of them.

I was there for both games and screamed my ass off for Carr. Reason? See bolded. Everyone knows that Carr isn't the answer, but Smith was terrible out there and just needed to GTFO. I prefer Troy or Nate out of the 4 QBs currently on the roster.

You must judge Smith by all surrounding circumstances. He is a different QB than he was a year ago and than he was three years ago. He has matured and gained experience. He is better. But are his stats and effectiveness better?
It depends upon the game plan, the playcalling, his OL and his receivers. When the OC was changed, his performance improved. When Crabtree finally got with the program, his performance improved. Not surprising.
Depsite all the obstacles, Alex has performed on a par with most of the better QB since the OC change was made. He was better than P. Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Brady, McNaab and J. Cutler. Look it up if you don't believe me.
Against common opponents this year, Alex did better than P. Manning against KC (68.8 vs 65.0). He did better than Orton against OAKL (87.4 vs 73.6) These are indisputable facts. Alex is probably not as good as the top 5 to 10, but he presently appears to be as good as the next 5. And in a good organization, he could probably do better than that.
There will be limits as to who you can get to replace Alex. Good FAs are generally not available. Even if one became available, you are living in a fantasy world if you think he would sign with a career-destroying team like the 49ers.
As for a draftee, maybe we could draft one in the first round. But remember, this team is capable of drafting the wrong one. Even if he is good, there is a good chance he will stink it up for awhile in this organization.
Kevin Lynch wrote that on the play where Alex got hurt, the 49ers had max pretection (Dixon and Norris in to block.) Carolina only rushed four men. But the rookie Dixon picked the wrong guy to block and let the DE come in unblocked. Lynch wondered why the 49ers use these rookies when their constant mistakes have been killing us.
Coming back to Alex, he must finally quit being so loyal to the organization. It is time for him to now look out for his career and reputation. We are fans of this team and fans of some of the players. I happen to like Alex, and think he is a class guy who deserves better that what has been dished out to him for six years here. I am confident he would do well in a well-run organization. There is always a place in this league for guys like him.
Nate Davis? It takes far more than a strong arm to succeed as a QB in this league. He has proven nothing yet in regualr season games. Looking good in preseason is about as indicative as winning 4 preseason games. From everything we have learned about him, the chances of him being the long-term answer here is about 5% in my humble opinion. But let the dreamers dream.

Of course not. But after that killer fumble...I was absolutely done with him. It's hard for me to hate a guy like Smith though. Talented athlete who puts 100% effort on the field and is a role model off the field. You always root for a guy like that to succeed as opposed to convicted felons like Vick. Hell, I'd even root for David Carr to succeed. We went to the same high school...I know him and his family...my parents are his neighbors in Bakersfield. David is an exceptionally nice person and never says anything bad about anyone. It's too bad a guy like him isn't a star in the NFL but guys like Vick and Rapelisberger are lighting it up.

To this day, i still dont support Smith, but I really felt bad for the guy when those boos rang down from the crowd. He just hasn't shown enough improvement in his 5 yrs. in the league. He actually may have been at his best in his 2nd year before his multiple shoulder surgeries. I think he may be able to salvage his career with the right system, but it definitelty won't be with the 9ers. Truthfully, I'd rather see Jarret Brown than David Carr, but that's just me, and why not Troy Smith, why not Nate Davis?

I did, but it was because i just wanted Smith out of there. He went 3 and out after that costly fumble for a TD.

I approved of the acquisition of Carr but after seeing him play

Holy jeezus! I think we could have stuck Franklin in at QB and performed better than with Carr at QB.
