P. Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Brady, McNaab, Cutler.
If you don't believe me, go look it up.
If this is how changing an OC helps Alex, imagine how fixing the OL and getting better play from our receiver corps would further help. Doltish is how I characterize the Alex haters. They cant' see the picture even if it hit them in the face.
Well I'm sure I calculate it a bit differently than you did; but, I show that Alex average (over the past 3 weeks) 16.6 completions in 30.3 attempts for 211.3 yards 6 TDs and 3 turnovers. This equates to a QB rate of 85.04 and a completion % of 54.7.
This would put him at 18th in QB rate and 30th in completion % in the NFL for this season. It's an improvement; but, its still below average.
How did you come up with better than P. Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Brady, McNaab, Cutler?
Brees, Cutler, Mcnabb have been horrible. I don't know bout the other guys. Mcnabb has been especially terrible this year, I'm pretty glad we didn't give up an early pick for that bum.
I agree with Cutler and Mcnabb. It's the other guys that made me

Seriously. Our QB is a MAJOR reason as to why we flopped this year.
This thread is not credible by excluding him from any blame.
I think Smith was responsible for two games IMO (Eagles and Falcons). But you could argue that Gore was as well in the Eagles game. He turned the ball over twice at crucial times before Smiths horrendous fumble. They both sucked ass that game.
The falcons game was all Smith IMO. He doesn't throw those late picks and we win no doubt. Seattle game was..just weird all around. NO game...we could have won. Defense lost that game. KC...total failure. Carolina...thanks David Carr.
But hey...if you're not part of the solution then you're part of the problem.
I definitely can't blame Alex for that Eagles game. He basically made one mistake the entire game. Sure it was crucial, but Gore's fumbles, no running game, and our D making Kolb look like Jesus were bigger issues.
Although coaching or lack there of is a major issue, ultimately this team's failures must fall on management. They had opportunities to improve this team but failed to do so. I am not disappointed because of their efforts to make Alex successful. He deserved it. But, I am totally disgusted over what appears as not preparing others on the roster to be successful. I suspect that this strategy was developed by management and executed by the coaching staff. Well managed teams do not pass on a chance to get a francise qb like Vick when your starting QB is Alex Smith. Nor do they do not fail to develop talent such as Davis who showed more skills than any QB on the roster durng the past two preseasons while recieving far less preparation.
I understand that this team has more issues than poor QB play. But many in the league believe that this team with a good QB is good enough to be a playoff team and I'm inclined to believe that this team would not be 1-6 if it had Vick or a better prepared Davis at the helm.
Yes, I can see the point that some make when they say that Davis is not ready. But I don't think that it's because he is incapable. Many of us believe that it is because he has not been coached to succeed; as Alex had been. Despite his mistakes, Davis showed more playmaking ability with limited practice reps than Alex as ever shown through his entire career. This is on Sing, but I believe that Sing was directed by management to do so.
Sing wanted and prepared is coaching staff to get Vick but management said no. He went out of his way to publicly chatise Davis, but waited until Alex hit rock bottom to even show any displeasure; although Smith played poorly and consistently violated one of his prime rules of not giving up the ball. He benched both JT and Hill for far less than what Alex has done.
Failiure starts from the top down and this implosion is indicative of an organization which had a policy to support one player at the expense of improving its team. You reap what you sow.

Coaching and QB play. That's it. The players will say what they have to to the media. But the bottomline is I would bet that none of those guys have any faith in Singletary or Smith/Carr, and honestly, why should they?
With that in mind, the game is over before it even begins.

1. Keeping Jimmy Raye as the offensive coordinator
Jimmy Raye's unimaginative playbook has made it easy for opposing defensive coordinators to guess which play the Niners will be running at any given time. Yesterday, the commentators recognized Mike Johnson was running from pass formations, and passing from running formations, which kept Carolina off-balance. Our delay of games and use of timeouts stemmed from Jimmy Raye's ineptitude in the booth. Singletary's close-minded offensive philosophy is what scared off Scott Linehan and other experienced playcallers. Mike Johnson is the equivalent of Mike Nolan signing Mike Martz. No way would he have gone with Martz unless his job was on the line...which it was. Singletary only gave Johnson more freedom to call plays because his job was on the line.
2. Starting Anthony Davis as a rookie and keeping Chilo Rachal in the lineup
Some spot duty would be fine, but Anthony Davis is obviously not ready to be a fulltime starter. He's 20 years old and has a lot of potential, but his head is not ready. Against Carolina, Davis gives up the same kind of hit that Rocky Bernard delivered that knocked Alex Smith out for two years and is called for several false starts. Pretty much the cherry on top of a disastrous rookie season.
Chilo Rachal is such a liability, apart from a few blocks to spring Gore for a few more yards, his pass protection is worthless. We played much better with Adam Snyder in there. Why we stick with Rachal boggles the mind.
3. Declining Play of Willis and Staley
We always had Patrick Willis up front to stop runners, and we still stuff most runs. The only exception would be the Kansas City game. So really, our pass defense is what has killed us. Staley's pass protection has been awful. Smith has been victimized due to Staley, Rachal and Davis not being able to hold off their blocks. The most steady part of the line seems to be Baas and Iupati.
4. Our Cornerback Play
One of the worst moves we made was not to re-sign Dre Bly. He was making all kinds of interceptions and he didn't get burned or make horrible decisions apart from the Atlanta showboating. I really wish we could have gotten Joe Haden, but he got picked up before our slots. We'll definitely be drafting a CB this off-season. Nate's been okay, he gives up the short routes, but generally doesn't get burned that often. Tarrell Brown has fallen off a lot...our 3rd corner is an big issue, and that's the role that Bly used to play.
5. Inability to Stop Offenses at the End of Games
Four games now, we've lost because our defense gave up big passes to get them into range to kick the winning field goal. Tarrell Brown on their number one guy, Roddy White, giving up the big pass...how the hell did that happen?
6. Crabtree and Franklin Missing Training Camp
Is it possible that Franklin missing camp is the reason why Willis hasn't been effective? It is pretty obvious that Crabtree's lack of camp contributed to him running wrong routes, resulting in picks. Without those picks, we might've stayed in games.
It's all a huge comedy of errors and poor decisions that have contributed to this debacle of a season. With the loss in Carolina, we're pretty much done and everyone knows this. What's really sad is how much hope the team and fans had. While it's great that Alex had his 2nd consecutive year under the same coordinator, that coordinator was the worst coordinator imaginable. And Singletary brings nothing other than motivation and leadership to the table. With an incompetent offensive coordinator followed by an inexperienced one, our offense is constantly in flux at the top. I don't think anyone wanted to see Alex taken out given how he's played the last few games. Under Mike Johnson, Alex played so much better, but now he's injured. I really hope that we stick Nate Davis in there to see what he can do. Hell, the season's lost already, why not?
Can't really argue much with the points you made. A few more could be added, but it can also be simplified to two words: Singletary and Smith, or arguably just Sing, since the buck stops there.
agreed but it all stems from the top and coaching is it....since MJ started alex is 5-1 td ratio and we have seem improvement and we cant say carr is better cuz if alex stayed in we would be 2-6 ITs all about the leader and ours is a Dingle berry that couldnt win a HS champoinship they cant evaluate talent they dont how to use the talent and make so many mistakes that the common fan can see...it really is a very bad product. and im sorry but under the proper coaching alex wouldnt be a thought to the convo...hate away on alex all you want He is inconsitant but he does make some great passes and you cant tell me he isnt better than a dilfer and he won a SB so case in point better coaching better talent selection, better oline and a better D and this team could be winners with alex driving the bus!
