That was thrown short and off his back foot when he could have stepped in. Like I said, he just can't make that, "Oh s**t, he's open" throw. He must set and be in ideal throwing position to make a good throw. Ginn had the step on the DB.

Agreed. Ginn was the bright spot in last nights dismal performance.

The return game is the only improvement the team has shown from last year, but if you remember how bad it was - there was nowhere to go but up.

Totally Agree! Outside the redzone its RUN, RUN, Shotgun pass on 3rd and long and the defense is coming. We ran the football 8 straight times to start the game on first down - predictable... one dimensional... unsuccesful.

The WR SHOULD have the advantage... he is the one that should be looking for the ball and should be able to make easier adjustments. The DB typically doesnt look for the ball (sometimes ever) until the WR looks... but in that case the DB knew they were running out of real estate and unless Smith was running around like the preverbial headless chicken he was going to have to get rid of the ball... and thats what happened. I still have no idea how Ginn isn't looking for the ball.

its seems ever since Ginn was traded to the 9ers, fans are forgetting what truly makes that trade great.

you state you love Ted Ginn......but I see no mention of your love for his family.

As much as I would've loved to see Ginn get all Calvin Johnson on that pass, it was very nice to see the 49ers work with a short field. If Ginn stays healthy and keeps returning kicks and punt like he did yesterday, he's gonna make Mike Johnson look like a genius. We'll be able to win the field position battle! Remember that guys!?!?! Way back in the 1990's, the 49ers always seemed to be playing on a short field! For once in a decade, we won't consistantly be looking at 80 yard fields which give plenty of time for us to fumble or throw a pick. Let Ginn keep stretching the field and making Crabtree and VD look like studs.

As a rule, I dislike seeing returners moving East-West, but I'll concede that Ginn has the speed to make it work--most of the time.

Man this guy is good, consistently giving us great field position.

If we can get field position like we did last night the majority of the time, he can run any direction he wants, IMO.

he had a great game. he was a very good pickup for us. glad he's healthy and can contribute!

you can just see his speed. definite upgrade and only consistent good thing last night

Ginn was a stud last night.. great returning kicks, and had a couple catches.. Perfect #3 WR for us and a main stay in the return game.. With him running like that, I see a few returns to the house during the stretch of the season

I agree that his returns were great, i just can't stand watching him play reciever. He is fast and there is no doubt, but to be a deep-threat you have to have BALL SKILLS. Ginn just plain does not. He never seems to adjust to the ball. Passes like the one that was intercepted on the 3 or whatever need to be caught. Or at the very least contested. QBs are taught to underthrow that pass on purpose all the time. If you aren't aware of the football, you aren't doing your job. I see QBs and WRs all over the league making those type of plays, but when Smith puts up a jump ball for Ginn he never adjusts for that ball. Hopefully he improves that awareness. Until then, Zeigler is the guy I would rather see on the field in passing situations.
