Exactly. And btw, a lot of people (myself included) WANTED Alex. It just didn't work out to our expectations, although I can't see Rodgers succeeding under the circumstances either.

In all honesty, only Rodgers or Smith had a chance. We had the #1 overall pick and no prospect was SO special that year that teams would trade for #1. We were drafting a QB, period. We lucked out not only on the QB that year but also the head coach.

I wanted Aaron Rodgers... not for any good reason except that he was a 49ers fan.

As much as all want to hate on the pick NOW, we all know Alex Smith was the best pick AT THE TIME.

He had a lot more upside than Aaron Rodgers, and people were afraid Rodgers was going to be another failed Tedford protege.

It's interesting. The biggest problem Alex is having this season is that he's making poor decisions, and being careless with the football. It's something that I never thought'd be the problem. I always thought he just didn't have the decisiveness.

It's a combination of things. And Rogers would have been in a much worse position here too. We are the worst run organization in the league. Clearly we have no clue how to develop a QB.

His hesitation or lack of decisiveness causes him to be late on certain things and thereby causes some of the carelessness with the football. When he is decisive he throws fine. We saw it tonight.

Alex's problems are between the ears. He gets scared and tenative. That leads to him holding the ball too long and causes some of the fumbles like the one tonight. When he doesn't think too much and just chucks it in there he leads drives fine like we saw tonight. It's in his mind mostly.

to be honest, I quit paying attention to the 49ers and football for many years until last year. I can't even remember what sparked my interest, but it was something because I became a fanatic that has to live with the humiliation of our teams performance.

My grandpa told me never to bet on anything that is not a sure thing. I wouldn't bet a nickel on this team, but I will carry my share of the burden that is this team until we get our s**t together.

Mostly, I'm tired of not being able to talk s**t to other teams fans, and having to hang my head in shame.

i wanted smith. in hindsight the way this team was gonna be set up they shoulda picked rolle since they had no idea what to do with offensive talent and they still dont.
