I think he is qualified based on the fact that he has been a successful OC in the past, even it was only for two games. Obviously someone else, that being Wade Phillips, thought he was qualified, and Phillips has had success in the league as a coach. Also, MJ has been around as a coach for a while and is thought well of around the league.

However, being qualified doesn't mean you are any good. Raye was qualified for the position, but he didn't have a knack for play-calling. I say give him at least 6 games before you start writing him off. He has a lot of work to do, since he was just the QB coach before and was in on offensive meetings, but probably didn't have a lot to say on final decisions.

I liked the game he called last Sunday and how he mixed things up, except for the run up the middle on 2nd and 22. There is some hope.

Yes but only in offseason after all possible candidates are interviewed and you have pool candidates to choose from. This dude didn't earn anything he was just given a job because he was there and the dude in front of him got canned. When coaches are hired in that way, they are rarely successful.

After saying that I would also like to say that I feel that Mike Johnson could potentially be good for the offense. There is noway of knowing what types of changes he is going to make after 1 game and less than a weeks worth of preparation.

I like what I'm hearing. Just gotta show it on Sunday and get it in the endzone.

actually I remember when Johnson was brought into be qb coach it was reported that he was there to groom for the OC position. I think he was suggested to Sing by Billick. This was done because of the instability at the OC position. Because of Mcarthy and Norv being hired away and us being stuck with nobody worth it to take the position in there places.

That being said I think MJ is a very promising young coordinator. While we don't exactly know what may happen I think it is too early to pass judgement on him yet.
