The One Play That Made Me Turn The TV Off | Page 2

There was one simple play in Sunday's game that caused be to turn the TV off in total disgust and made me realize the tremendous doo-doo we were in as an offense. This is not a defense of Alex but just an observation of what this poor kid has been up against with Raye and Singletary. On a designed roll out by Alex, he was supposed to find an open receiver. The replay showed there were no receivers to be found on that side of the field, resulting in him throwing the ball away. Of course, he was blasted by the haters for not making a play. I then realized that there was absolutely no coordination between Raye, the "great" Jerry Sullivan and the rest of the bunglers. In the glory days of Bill Walsh, on a designed roll out, Montana would have three (3) receivers flooding the zone, deep, medium and short, giving Joe the option of who to throw to. I then realized how far we had fallen as a team offensively. I almost puked when I saw the the lack of scheming and coordination on that play. It told me all that I needed to know about Raye, Singletary and the total lack of any kind offensive coaching. Hopefully, Mike Johnson is aware of the complete folly that has been going on. Thanks for letting me rant.

Second that. To this day, I'll never realize what about Homgren gives people the people around here such a stiffy. Aside from being a proponent of the WCO, what has he done in recent memory to merit being hired? You guys forget that Seattle was winning the west every year, only to get destroyed in the playoffs. And their success likely had more to do with the fact that every other team in the division was terrible.

So they were kind of winning by default. I remember a few folks around here cried their eyes out when we let him "escape" to Cleveland.

Remind me again how he's doing over there?

As far as Gruden, I'm not all that high on him on either. The game moves fast. He's been out of football for awhile. And the last time he was in, he wasn't exactly tearing it up in Tampa (which is why he got fired).

He needs to swipe his parents checkbook. Honestly a lot of posters mention high profile coaches and front office people, what makes you think the Yorks will cough up the cash for a big name?

You think it's about money?

Within a span of one off-season, the Yorks extended Patrick Willis and Vernon Davis to a combined $87,000,000 over five seasons, $52,000,000 being guaranteed through signing bonuses.

The team also spent another $5,000,000 in pushing the ballot initiative for a new stadium. I won't even go into the amount of money spent on rookie contracts or advertising.

Just going out and hiring a name won't guarantee success.

Bill Parcells in New York, Dallas and Miami?
Dick Vermeil in Kansas City?
Mike Ditka in New Orleans?
Marty Schottenheimer in Washington and San Diego?
Herm Edwards in Kansas City?

The last four coaches (Payton, Caldwell, Tomlin and Whisenhunt) to coach in the Super Bowl hadn't held a previous head coaching job before their respective teams hired them.

actually there were two plays for me..

the first time the Chiefs went offside and Alex had time to hit them deep but checked it down....resulted in me shaking my head..

then when he did it a second time, I just really couldn't believe...I tried to ask myself why.....how come....I mean really, why

.

the fact that we were losing at the time when he chose to do this, made my head hurt even more.

There's a lot of talent on the team and it's getting wasted with coaches who don't know what to do.

I really hope Johnson becomes the real deal.

Nice shot at the "haters," but in reality, you happened to find one play where there was nowhere to go, meanwhile there have been countless times Alex had a wide open receiver, but simply couldn't find him.

You're expecting people to think none of it has been Alex's fault because you found one play where he had absolutely nowhere to go?
