What veteran QB's are available next year?

Vick is in his last year of his contract with Philly. If the re-sign him, I'm sure Kolb will be available. I think we're in the situation where we need to not only look at FA's but even trades.

McNabb still doesn't have an extension I think, so I think we'd be looking at him and Kolb/Vick, whichever one the Eagles decide not to keep

Mike Vick will almost certainly be retained. Couple of dinosaurs, Shaun Hill Deluxe, and a can't-hack-it.
We mine as well either stick it with Smith, trade for a QB, or tank the season.

While I think we have done a decent job of that in drafting such players like Gore, Staley, Vernon, Morgan, Willis, Goldson etc. we have had some mulligans too, but that is to be said about every team. The thing is they have always said that they would supplement the draft with Free Agency, which has been less than adequate during the Nolan/McCloughan and to a lesser extent Sing/Baalke era.
The thing they failed to do is build the QB position through the draft. We drafted Smith and that was it! They put all of their eggs in one basket. This seemed to be the only position that was exempt from either building through the draft or even supplementing through FA since Smith was drafted.
The truth of the matter is, we have a VERY GOOD CORE... a nucleus of players... I feel that we have built through the draft as much as we can. It's go time. If we continue to try and build a winner through the draft... our key players, our core, our nucleus that we have built will be on the decline, wanting trades and we will not be a winning team.
Next season, don't need to only draft a QB and think we will be fine. If we want to win NOW... we NEED to Sign a Veteran QB that can help us win now. The rest of the pieces are there. I think we are a HC and a QB away from being a contender.
Whether we get Gruden, Harbaugh, (insert a HC name here) and sign Vick, McNabb, (insert QB name here) we need to do something. Building through the draft can only take you so far. It's time to win now. We need a Veteran QB that knows how to play NFL Caliber football. No Dilfer, Weinke, Hill, O'Sullivan's. We need a winner, and possibly even a high round QB to be drafted as well. I think if we can shore up a HC with Super Bowl experience (Please Gruden) and sign a big name QB Free Agent (Please Vick) than the rest of our team is in place.
5 years of building through the draft is long enough. Let's show some balls and sign a couple of big names and show our current nucleus that we want to win now. If we keep building for the future, we are only showing our current nucleus of good players, we don't care about winning now, we care about winning in the future, so what incentive do they have to stay if their prime years are being wasted on a losing team.
This logic always cracks me up.
Who is this magical "Veteran QB that can help us win now"? If that guy was out there, don't you think every team in the NFL would be trying to sign him? Teams don't let that guy get out of the building. There have only been a few VERY RARE occasions when thats happened. Brees was FA only because SD thought he was a bust and drafted Phillip Rivers. Warner was a guy everyone thought was finished. Even Steve Young was traded because the Bucs drafted Testaverde.
When a team has a QB they can win with, even if he's the #2, THEY DON'T LET HIM LEAVE.
There is a reason teams take a QB #1....THEY ARE HARD TO COME BY.

We need to make the Walrus an offer he can't refuse. Smith and next years #1 for Vick... right now! Let Kolb start over there and Smith can be the backup. Such bulls**t because we could have gotten him for free. He was trying out for free for other teams. NO one wanted to take a chance on him. Must be the largest swing in value for a QB in the shortest amount of time I have seen ever.

Read what I said about. Vick couldn't PAY a team to sign him. He was going to work out for teams for free and no one wanted to take a chance on him. We could have signed him DIRT CHEAP... It happens man...

if Vick plays like he has been playing for the whole year i really doubt the eagles would trade him. I donm thinkt they would trade Kolb either because Kolb is gonna be cheap next year, He got all his money upfront.

Kerry Collins .... Hell No.
Chad Pennington.... I forgot this dude was even alive
Billy Volek.... Same for this guy.
and Kolb is seriously benefiting from the Andy Reid hype machine, there is a reason why so many scratched there head when they traded McNabb.

i don't actually recommend any of these guys ('cept maybe Vick)... just was answering what vets are FA's next year (if there is a next year with the labor dispute).

OK...name another QB like Vick coming out of prison right now. Name a QB who is going to be availbale as a FA or by trade. Just give me ONE name that would be an improvement.

This is the QB you trade for...
kid can play no doubt
and the price might be surprisingly low...
Steeler fans supposedly don't like him much after the scandal stuff... there was some talk of getting rid of Ben during the offseason like they unloaded Santonio Holmes... also they are 3-0 without him
