Captain Choke
Anyone notice that Alex NEVER seems to get rid of the ball on time... It seemed to happen on nearly 90% of his throws today. What is the deal... he can't possibly not know his progressions!!

he's afraid to take risks, and it has a snowball effect when he doesn't even try to push the ball down the field because defenses can play more aggressively and crowd the line of scrimmage

then again it could be Raye's fault for having conservative passing plays in the first place, hard to know without being able to see the receivers running their routes
I dont think sing and raye want alex to take chances thats why he doesnt push the ball down field and checks down.. they want to play not to lose...

"I am not sure who else has noticed this, but it seems to me that Alex Smith's interception 90% of the time come off of tipped balls. Especially, this year. Both passes in Mondays game that were picked were off tips. One of his two from Seattle. I have noticed this since he came into the league in '05. The ball just kind of has a knack for finding a defender."

The balls are tipped because he has no touch, most of the tipped balls are tipped by our receivers because he threw them too high or behind the receiver, and way too hard too boot. It is ok to fire the ball 90 mph at the numbers, but he throws them high and 90 mph. The dude sucks, end of story.
I love how the Alex Smith haters gloss over the fact that the oline forgot to block today.

Smith was off target all day. Same old brown s**t on the field by him again. His stats got padded in garbage time. His passer rating got "bumped up" to 68.8 in garbage time, otherwise he'd have had a passer rating of 47.2 per Eric Branch.

The LOWEST passer rating that Tim Couch got in any season in his career (including his rookie year) was 73.1. Right now I'd kill for that kind of consistency.

When are we going to get this clown out of our organization and get a real QB?

Alex is a clown, dont blame the OL, he chokes...
Per Barrows

Alex Smith has thrown five interceptions this season. Four of them have been intended to Michael Crabtree ...

finally, some consistency!
Steelers start their 4th quarterback and put up 38 points. We go with Alex Smith and put 10, with 7 coming in garbage time. That is pretty much all the Alex Smith observations you need.

McNabb's 2010 passer rating (93.6) is almost twice as much as Smith's this year.
