Imagine if we had a pick 6 on the last drive for the Saints. It ALMOST HAPPENED!!!!!
sooo close!! Can't remember who it was though.
Reggie Smith couldn't quite close. I would have loved to see him show the nation how to Dougie in the endzone!

They said that Baas and Snyder may stay in lineup (in article)..So maybe it is a glimpse. Rachal and Heitman make good backup too..

The Staley..Iupati..Baas..Snyder..Davis line worked well on Monday, why change it?

In related news, it's better to breath air than water. Of course the O-line was better.
As for Snyder/Rachal, go with what works, but don't hesitate to make changes. There's no need to lock one or the other in as the starter. A bit of applied Darwinism should do them both a bit of good.
Agreed. Chilo and Snyder are both free Agents after next year so I might think about cutting them and upgrading the position this off season if one doesn't step it up.
i dont think chilo is that bad but if they can get better im all for it. logan mankins becomes an FA this year
or they can draft someone if they see another iupati in the draft and we'll have a young powerful line to grow and play together for the next decade. but i dont think chilo is that bad so i hope they stick with him.
I agree. If anything get some vet this off season re sign chilo as a 2nd string.
We have so many upcoming Free Agents that we need to re sign than signing in a big time Free Agent.
No we don't, we are in good shape in this regard. Top of my head the significant ones left are A Smith, Goldston and Franklin. And the usual bundle of more minor guys. See AB83s pinned thread for the full monty

That was the best oline play I've seen from the niners in years. They have in the recent past been good at run blocking at times, but they have not shown the combination of run blocking and pass blocking that they displayed on Monday in years.
It really was exciting. If we can passblock and runblock, man, that would really make us an offense to be reckoned with.

Maddog said it. When you don't hear an OLs name called, he played great. Considering the opposition, 4th best D in the league(?) , or close, we just flat out shut them down. I have been particularly tough on snyder=baas=rags=wallace, but i will have to admit, it is a helluva lot easier playing OL when guys on either side of you are playing lites out. Maybe all these guys just needed was that super stud on one side or the other of them. It is tough playing C and blocking for both OGs. Same goes for OGs, too. Remember, we kept the fastest man on the team , a TE in to block, essentially since he was drafted. That is no longer necessary and nobody wants to give vernon single coverage on a passing play or third and 5.
Oh, and the 8 in a box? Saw that once, steamrolled it, and never saw it again. that's also past history. Sure we could lay a green steamer on the lawn manana, but i bet against it. KC may be tough...but they ain't the saints, and they don't have nfl's best coach , either. Look for a W, our 1st.

You had to love Davis following the runner down field and pushing the defense away from Gore as the pile untangled. He has loads of athleticism.
And Bynham sure has turned out well so far. (I did see Bear Pascoe made some other team this year, too.)

Big test today. I think a major letdown in store. Should be chaotic in KC, and short weeks are a problem for vets, let alone rooks. I have pretty low expectations. Hopefully, Niners fans won't be hanging off the bridge after the game, and the OL will surprise.
Growing pains, especially on the road.
