He is correct.. the NFC West is a terrible division. 8-8 could win it depending on tie breakers.

To the question. Would we be better if the division as whole were more competitive?

The NFC West has been a historically weak division, even before the most recent realignment that moved Atlanta and New Orleans out and moved Arizona and Seattle in.

The 49ers used to feast on the crappy divisional teams back in the 80's and 90's.

I think it's more a matter of good coaching, game planning and of course great players.
