Alex Smith didn't fail today. Coaching didn't fail today. No one on the field failed. The failure was two years ago when the organization didn't clean house from the Nolan era. They ejected Nolan, but left his little minion Singletary running the show. They let Scot keep on pounding shots and running the front office like a drunkard. They fired Scot a year too late, and they'll fire Singletary two years too late. In the offseason, they made the tremendous blunder of declaring Alex Smith the undisputed starter and made no effort to get someone to come in and compete with him. They didn't want him to have to look over his shoulder... like he has earned that right. The organization should have thrown out ALL of the garbage two years ago, not just the biggest, stinkiest piece of garbage.

Yes but the Yorks own this team. So what do you want to do about that? If fans think they can ever win with the Yorks they are kidding themselves. You will NEVER win with the Yorks.

They made the right decisions when they cleaned house from the Donahue era, but they didn't see the need to clean up all the stink of the Nolan era. As long as there are people around that had a hand in drafting Alex, there will always be a desire to give him more chances.

Fire Singletary, cut Alex. Finish the job that should have been finished at the end of 2008.

Singletary learned from Nolan all about winning meaningless games late in the season to save your job.
